TON’s Bridge to the Past is Closing—Don’t Panic (Yet)

Ah, the Toncoin Bridge. A trusty old companion in the world of digital currency. But like all good things, it’s now preparing for a grand retirement on May 10, 2025. After that date, don’t even think about bridging Toncoin between the TON network, Ethereum, or BNB Smart Chain. It’ll be as useful as a chocolate teapot.

But fear not, dear user! If you’ve already made your transfers, you’ll still be able to claim them. Just a little longer until the clock strikes midnight. For now, you can still bridge Toncoin into TON, but we’re on the verge of phasing that out too. More details coming soon, like an unreliable plot twist.

Why the Bridge Is Retiring

The Toncoin Bridge was once the hero we all needed—especially when Toncoin wasn’t exactly waltzing around on centralized exchanges (CEXs) and DeFi wasn’t even a thing. Ah, those were the days when the bridge was the sole means of ferrying Toncoin to Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain. Users could trade it for all sorts of fancy tokens on Uniswap and PancakeSwap.

Even after Toncoin made its grand debut on CEXs, the bridge stuck around like an old friend who doesn’t know when to leave. It was the only way to access decentralized exchanges (DEXs) until TON built its own little empire. It also let people use wrapped assets like jUSDT. The glory days.

After 4 years and 100M+ $TON bridged, Toncoin Bridge is retiring.

Starting May 10, 2025, users will no longer be able to bridge $TON to Ethereum or BNB Chain. Claims from past transfers will stay open, and inbound bridging remains live for now.

But now that the TON ecosystem is more dazzling than a debutante at a ball, the bridge has become, well, redundant. With new cross-chain platforms like LayerZero, Stargate, and Symbiosis strutting their stuff, and TON’s DeFi scene thriving like a garden party in full bloom, there’s simply less reason to stray far from the comfort of the TON network. How lovely!

What Does This Mean for Users?

Retiring the bridge? A sign of progress, darling. It means TON is evolving—becoming sleeker, faster, and dare we say, more glamorous. The network is putting more focus on newer, shinier cross-chain solutions, which should make everything smoother than a silk dressing gown.

If you’ve already bridged Toncoin to Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain, you’re safe. Your assets will remain claimable after May 10.
