Just when fans were already excited for the next Spider-Man movie, even more footage from Spider-Man: Brand New Day was shown at CinemaCon. Early reactions praise Tom Holland‘s acting as his best work yet.
CinemaCon, the yearly gathering of movie theater owners in Las Vegas, is currently underway. Industry leaders are there sharing early looks at some of the biggest films scheduled for release in the coming months.
Of course, Brand New Day was featured, with CinemaCon showing a special sneak peek of extra scenes where Peter Parker reconnects with MJ (Michelle Jones-Watson) in the film.

Their reunion isn’t joyful, considering what happened in the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter was forced to make everyone forget who he was to keep his family and friends safe.
Essentially, his girlfriend, MJ, and his best friend, Ned, don’t remember him at all – they don’t even know he’s Spider-Man.

The latest footage shows Peter discovering MJ has started dating someone else. He crashes a party at their apartment and sees her kissing a new boyfriend – a pretty painful moment for him.
The video begins with Peter seeing Ned trying to buy beer and a keg at their neighborhood store. Peter then goes with Ned to a party at his apartment, where he finds a detailed bulletin board covered with news clippings about Spider-Man, revealing Ned’s obsession.
Ned explained that Peter saved his and his friend’s lives back in high school, thinking Peter was just a nice guy from the neighborhood.
I’ve been wondering about him ever since, not to reveal his identity, but simply to express my gratitude.
Ned continues in his tirade, sharing his theories about Spider-Man being from Queens.
He explained that he’d identified two main suspects – Flash Thompson and Professor Harrington – and showed us their pictures. “You wouldn’t believe who they are,” he said.
Just as MJ was about to kiss her new boyfriend, she stopped to point out how crowded Peter and Ned’s apartment was. “There are so many people in here,” she said, “that statistically, at least two of them are probably sociopaths. That’s… interesting.”

Peter introduces himself as Maynard, telling her he’s just the neighbor from across the hall – a line we heard in the trailer. He gives her flowers, and when she calls him a “friendly neighbor,” he nearly chokes on his drink.
Tom Holland didn’t go to CinemaCon in person, but he showed up as a hologram to present what he called the most heartfelt and mature version of Spider-Man yet.
Sony Chairman Tom Rothman unveiled a holographic display for their new film (according to Variety).
Rothman described the film as both incredibly massive in scale and surprisingly intimate. He also praised Tom Holland, calling it his best performance yet, having already seen the movie.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in cinemas on 31 July.
