The weather presenter from The Today Show is still recovering from injuries she sustained after being attacked by a large crab while broadcasting live, several weeks ago.
Let me tell you, things got a little too real for me recently! I was doing a live broadcast from the Sydney Fish Markets, and wouldn’t you know it, a pretty sizable crab decided to take a little nibble – on my finger! It definitely made for an interesting moment on April 3rd, and it’s something I won’t soon forget!
Okay, so thankfully, Chloe Haynes said her finger isn’t broken, which is such a relief! But honestly, even though it’s just a little bandage, I noticed it immediately when she was back on Today on Sunday. I was so worried, I’ve been glued to the screen since! It’s just… I can’t help but notice everything about her, even a tiny bandage!
Okay, so she was doing the weather report from this charity run in Townsville, and honestly, I couldn’t take my eyes off her! Even with her hand all bandaged up – seriously, she was holding a clipboard with one hand while injured! – she just handled it like it was nothing. It was amazing, and I was instantly captivated. I mean, who looks that good and professional while clearly dealing with an injury? It was just…wow.
The broadcast took an unexpected turn when a runner in the fun run began making strange faces towards the camera.
After being injured by a crab, Haynes got a bit of payback by eating it on camera.
Just a few days after getting hurt, Taylor appeared on camera seated at a table covered with a bowl of cooked crabs and a martini glass filled with crab legs.
This morning feels like justice is finally happening, Australia,” she stated, playfully adding, “Let me show you my breakfast – you could even call it my revenge.
Do you recognize this person? I certainly do. It’s strange seeing them again, especially given the circumstances.
Taylor defended her actions, saying, ‘It really bothered me recently, so I wanted to get the last word.’
A video of Taylor’s reaction was posted on the Today show’s Instagram, and people quickly filled the comments section, largely sending supportive messages to the reporter.
One viewer happily commented on Taylor’s recovery, joking about her still having all her fingers! They were glad it wasn’t a mud crab and shared their appreciation for Taylor’s segments, saying she’s fantastic to watch.
Someone else agreed, writing, ‘So happy you’re alright, and it’s great to see you enjoying the final piece! That’s awesome.’
One person captured what many were thinking, saying, ‘What an amazing person! It’s incredible you kept going despite the pain!’
It wasn’t all praise, however, with some viewers calling Taylor’s revenge act ‘distasteful.’
One commenter, clearly upset, wrote that deliberately provoking an animal and finding it amusing was appalling. They admitted to initially underestimating the person, but found their behavior far more offensive, and expressed a disturbing wish that the animal had reacted more strongly.
Another added: ‘Absolutely sickening! At least the crab had some fun before it was murdered.’
You know, looking back, I think Taylor could have really connected with people on a deeper level if she’d focused more on giving back and showing her compassionate side. It’s amazing how much impact humanitarian efforts can have on public perception – it’s something I always advise my clients to consider.
Are you really okay with boiling a crab alive? That’s incredibly cruel! If you wanted to make a statement, you should have simply bought the crab and set it free. True character is revealed in small actions like these.
Following the shock incident, Taylor took to Instagram to give followers an update on her injuries.
She posted a series of pictures remembering her painful encounter with the crab, and also a photo of Taylor waiting at the hospital.
She expressed immense gratitude to the Sydney Fish Market and The Today Show team for their professional handling of this morning’s incident, calling them “absolute pros.”
They reacted instantly, and somehow managed to keep me calm while the crab was painfully nibbling on my finger.
‘Miraculously, it’s not broken, just very bruised and swollen. I’ll take that as a win.’
