Netflix has had huge success recently with a four-part crime thriller that blends the styles of Bosch and Suits, and critics love it – it has an almost perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. This show is a great example of how Netflix has become a leading streaming service thanks to its high-quality original content, with many of its shows now considered among the best ever made. Netflix offers a wide range of genres, but crime thrillers are particularly popular with viewers.
Netflix has become known for its gripping crime thrillers, with shows like Mindhunter, Ozark, and Narcos. One of their recent and biggest successes, both within the genre and overall, is The Lincoln Lawyer. Based on Michael Connelly’s novels, the show follows defense attorney Mickey Haller, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. The Lincoln Lawyer premiered on Netflix in 2022 and has been popular ever since.
Over its four seasons, The Lincoln Lawyer has consistently earned high praise from critics. It currently boasts a 92% average score on Rotten Tomatoes and is considered one of Netflix’s top shows of the last ten years, thanks to its unique style, strong acting, and faithful adaptation of Michael Connelly’s books.
The Lincoln Lawyer Is One Of The Best Legal Dramas Of The Decade
Following the success of Suits and building on the world created by Bosch, The Lincoln Lawyer offers a fresh take on the legal drama. While sharing the courtroom setting with Suits, it feels more akin to Bosch due to its similar author. Like Bosch, the series is gritty, explores themes of corruption and justice, and features a main character who operates in a morally complex space.
The real strength of The Lincoln Lawyer isn’t just the cases Mickey Haller takes on—it’s Haller himself. He’s a compelling character grappling with personal struggles while striving to do what’s right and protect those who deserve it. Unlike typical TV lawyers, Haller operates unconventionally, running his practice from his car and often taking cases others wouldn’t touch, even if it means bending the rules.
Alongside Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Haller, The Lincoln Lawyer features a talented supporting cast, including Neve Campbell and Becki Newton, who both enhance the show and contribute to Haller’s journey. The series skillfully combines the excitement of drama, mystery, and suspense with the structure of a legal procedural, all while offering compelling characters, emotional storylines, and engaging plots each season.
As a big movie and TV fan, I’m not at all surprised The Lincoln Lawyer has consistently gotten great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s quickly become one of the best shows Netflix has put out, and honestly, one of the most compelling legal dramas I’ve seen in a long time.
What The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5 Could Be About
Each season of The Lincoln Lawyer adapts a different novel by Michael Connelly. The first season covered The Brass Verdict, followed by The Fifth Witness in season two, The Gods of Guilt in season three, and The Law of Innocence in season four. The show has been renewed for a fifth season, scheduled to premiere in January 2026, and will be based on the novel Resurrection Walk.
Season four of The Lincoln Lawyer concluded with a surprising twist and a cliffhanger, setting the stage for a new, significant character in season five – someone with a personal connection to Mickey Haller. While Haller tackles a fresh case, he’ll also have to resolve lingering issues from the previous season. Although the show is inspired by the book series, it hasn’t followed the books exactly, making it difficult to guess what season five will bring.
Haller is headed for more intense struggles and complications, both personally and professionally, with some significant surprises likely on the way. It’s safe to say The Lincoln Lawyer will continue to receive positive reviews and remain a top-tier legal drama for the foreseeable future.
