The film was co-written and directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia. While critics had a mixed reaction, general audiences tended to like it more.
One IMDb reviewer described the film as a captivating and suspenseful collaboration between Spain and the US, praising its unique story and talented international cast.
One viewer called it a sharply satirical and unsettling look at the way the world works, with a surprisingly relatable story and a fresh perspective. Another praised the film’s stunning visuals, which powerfully convey the scale of the disaster and the disturbing truth about the contamination.

I saw someone describe it as a really unsettling but original take on how wealth can be both dangerous and surprisingly ordinary, and I totally get that. It really stuck with me how it showed both sides of that coin.
The movie didn’t receive universally positive reviews. One viewer described it as starting slowly with unlikeable characters, becoming mildly interesting in the middle, and then ending abruptly and unsatisfactorily.
Rich Flu is now available to buy on Prime Video.
