Timothy Busfield will be edited out of Amazon MGM’s You Deserve Each Other as he faces accusations of sexually abusing two boys

Following recent allegations and his arrest, Timothy Busfield will be removed from the upcoming Amazon MGM film, You Deserve Each Other, using digital editing techniques.

On January 13th, 68-year-old Busfield was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse.

The Emmy-winning actor, husband of Melissa Gilbert, played Bernie – Naomi’s father – in the film You Deserve Each Other, directed by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein.

Filming for the romantic comedy, featuring Penn Badgley, Justin Long, Natalie Morales, Hope Davis, Kyle MacLachlan, and Ana Gasteyer, has wrapped up, according to sources at The Hollywood Reporter.

As a lifestyle and entertainment expert, I’m hearing that the team is working hard to address a situation with one of the actors. It looks like they won’t be able to reshoot any scenes, so the editors are skillfully using digital tools to remove him from the film. It’s a bit of a setback, and unfortunately, that means we’re still waiting on a release date for this adaptation of Sarah Hogle’s wonderful 2020 novel. They want to make sure the final product is perfect, and that takes time!

The Daily Mail has contacted Busfield’s lawyer and representatives from Amazon MGM for additional information regarding this story.

The movie centers on an engaged couple who’ve grown apart and playfully attempt to ruin their wedding to break up, but end up rekindling their romance along the way.

Actor Patrick Thomas, originally from Lansing, Michigan, is known for his roles in movies like Field of Dreams, Little Big League, and Revenge of the Nerds. He’s also made appearances on television shows including The West Wing and Thirtysomething.

Busfield has also directed numerous episodes of television, including popular shows like The Client List, The Night Shift, and Designated Survivor.

The claims against Busfield involve two young actors, ages seven and eight, and relate to his work on the TV series ‘The Cleaning Lady’ while filming in New Mexico.

Busfield is a producer on tThe Cleaning Lady and directed six episodes between 2022 and 2025.

Angele LaSalle and Ronald Rodis, the children of the parent in question, reported the claims to authorities, but Busfield has denied them.

According to Busfield, LaSalle and Rodis made up the claims because they were upset that his sons had taken over their sons’ roles on the TV show two years prior.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this case closely, and it’s become clear that Busfield’s legal team is really focusing on questioning the backgrounds and credibility of those who’ve accused him. Recent court documents, as reported by TMZ, show they’re actively trying to cast doubt on the accusers’ trustworthiness by bringing up details from their past.

During a police interview, Busfield said Elodie Yung told him that LaSalle had promised to retaliate against him for not having her children appear in the show’s final season.

On Friday, the actor’s lawyers asked a New Mexico court – where the television show was filmed – to let him go free while his legal case is being decided.

Okay, so I’ve been following this so closely, and Busfield’s lawyers just dropped a bombshell! Apparently, they’ve got results from their own investigation – a totally separate look at everything – and it seriously undermines what the prosecutors are claiming. The AP reported it, so it has to be true! It’s like, everything the prosecution built their case on is starting to crumble, and I’m just… I’m so excited to see this play out!

Busfield’s lawyers pointed to the questionable backgrounds of his accusers’ parents and highlighted that Busfield himself has passed lie detector tests related to the allegations.

A court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday to decide if Busfield will be held in jail until his trial.
