Timothée Chalamet lost his third Oscar – but he’s not close to the longest Oscar losing streak

I was really rooting for Marty Supreme at the Oscars, but it was a pretty disappointing night for them. Josh Safdie’s movie was so energetic and fast-moving, and it had nine nominations, but sadly, it didn’t win any awards.

While the movie wasn’t predicted to win Best Picture or Best Director, Timothée Chalamet was considered the likely winner of the Best Actor award for a time.

Even though he had previously won similar awards at the Critics’ Choice Awards and Golden Globes, Michael B. Jordan ultimately won the award for his role in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners.

Timothée Chalamet didn’t win at the Oscars this year, marking his third loss in the Best Actor category. He was previously nominated for Call Me By Your Name in 2018 and A Complete Unknown in 2025, but didn’t take home the award either time.

Timothée Chalamet was a producer on Marty Supreme, which didn’t win Best Picture – it lost to One Battle After Another. This means he’s been nominated for an Academy Award four times without winning, but many other people have had longer losing streaks.

While Timothée Chalamet is gaining recognition with his acting nominations, he still has a ways to go before surpassing the record for most nominations without a win. Both Peter O’Toole and Glenn Close have each been nominated eight times without ever receiving an award.
