Lucy prevents the Sweetly Slasher from killing Summer in Time Cut
Despite Lucy’s efforts, she couldn’t stop Brian, Val, and the Sweetly Slasher’s tragic encounter at the mall. However, she managed to rescue Emmy at the Marine Museum. Armed with knowledge that Summer is the last target of the killer and her life is in danger, Lucy joins forces with Quinn once more to save her.
At first, Lucy chooses not to alter Summer’s destiny upon discovering that her existence hinges on Summer’s death. However, as they grow closer, Lucy reconsiders and can no longer bear the thought of letting her sister perish. Before formulating a plan to prevent Summer’s demise, Lucy confesses her feelings to her. She then devises not only a way to save Summer but also a means to return to her original timeline.
As Lucy and Quinn sneak into SONR to secure an antimatter container for powering the time machine, Summer goes to Spring Fling and draws the Sweetly Slasher towards a barn. Meanwhile, upon entering the SONR lab, Lucy and Quinn discover a deceased guard and one of the containers missing. Upon closer inspection, they deduce that the murderer was there, taking the canister because it’s needed for the time machine. This murderer, it seems, is from the future!
However, the question arises: Who was the one attempting to murder Summer? As Lucy and Quinn made off with one of the antimatter canisters, leaving SONR behind to rescue Summer, it was precisely at that moment when the killer prepared to slay Summer with a scythe. Yet, just in the nick of time, Lucy and Quinn sped into the barn in a vehicle, running over the assailant. In an instant, Summer leaped into a haystack to avoid being struck.
Lucy exits the automobile swiftly to hurry Summer into it, then she jumps back in herself. Just as they prepare to depart, they spot the ominous figure stirring. The menacing individual advances towards the car, removing his mask in the process. To their shock, it’s Quinn! It appears that Quinn is the murderer! In a surprise twist, Good Quinn shifts the car into reverse and speeds away, heading back to his garage where the time machine resides.
Upon reaching the garage, Lucy informs Quinn and Summer that they should divert attention from future Quinn when he arrives, giving her time to activate the time machine. As Lucy positions the canister accurately for the time machine to start up, future Quinn is busy trying to enter the garage. Eventually, he forces his way in, and Lucy, along with Quinn and Summer, stand nervously in the garage.
Later on, Future Quinn confesses that he murdered Summer and her companions because he was constantly bullied, and Summer turning him down at the Spring Fling was the final blow. As Future Quinn prepares to attack Quinn and Summer with a knife, the time machine suddenly activates. Lucy rushes to restrain Future Quinn, while Quinn and Summer quickly exit the premises.
Lucy and a future version of Quinn travel from their time to April 18, 2024, ending up in a parking garage. A fight ensues, with Lucy eventually overpowering future Quinn by shocking him when he tries to attack her with a knife. The knife ends up stuck in an electric vehicle charger, causing the shock. Future Quinn falls unconscious. In the parking garage, Lucy sees that their time machine is no longer active.
Later on, she gazes at Future Quinn and notices a container holding antimatter tucked into his coat. As she moves to take it, Future Quinn stirs and she swiftly seizes the nearby knife, plunging it into his chest, resulting in his immediate demise. He is now deceased.
The film switches to an earlier time (April 18, 2003), showing Summer and Quinn conversing outside the garage about recent events and their feelings for Lucy. All of a sudden, Lucy reappears behind them, having returned from 2003 with the aid of the canister. She explains that she’s chosen to remain in the past, as it seems to be where she truly belongs.
Subsequently, we witness a series of scenes depicting Lucy securing an internship at NASA, forging friendships with Quinn, the formalization of Summer and Emmy’s relationship, and her seamless integration into the family circle shared by her and Summer’s parents. Now, she embraces a revitalized and improved perspective on life.
Time Cut starring Madison Bailey and Antonia Gentry is now streaming on Netflix.
