Thor 4: Lena Headey Reveals Details of Her Deleted Scene & Character

I was so excited to hear Lena Headey was originally in Thor: Love and Thunder, and it’s a real shame her cameo didn’t make the final cut! She’s now explained that the directors ended up removing more than just her scenes, which is disappointing to learn. I was really looking forward to seeing her in the Marvel universe!

Lena Headey and two more actors got cut from Thor: Love and Thunder

In an interview with ScreenRant about her movie Ballistic, Lena Headey shared details about her part in Thor 4. She explained that she and actors Angus Sampson and Da’Vine Joy Randolph played a group of witches created by director Taika Waititi just for Thor: Love and Thunder.

Lena Headey described her role in Thor: Ragnarok as part of a trio of witches who guided Thor through the underworld. Although she wasn’t directly in the scene, she worked on it as one of three witches—a group created by director Taika Waititi—who were meant to be both humorous and a little bit crazy.

She clarified that reports of the actors being fired were false. Taika Waititi actually decided their characters’ story wasn’t needed in the finished movie. Lena Headey explained that Waititi had planned to explore their characters further in a different project.

I was so excited to hear Lena Headey talk about working with Natalie Portman! She said Natalie was just a delight and a joy to be around, which sounds amazing. It’s such a shame, though, that their scenes didn’t make it into Thor: Love and Thunder – she basically said it was a ‘bummer’ we didn’t get to see their chemistry! It’s wild to think about all the celebrity cameos Marvel does – from Matt Damon and even Elon Musk, to the legendary Stan Lee – but not everything always makes it into the final cut, sadly.

Although Lena Headey’s role in Thor 4 didn’t make the final cut, she continues to work steadily. While Netflix recently canceled her Western, The Abandons, she’s starring in the upcoming thriller Ballistic. In the film, she plays a mother mourning her son, a soldier, and discovers a surprising truth about the bullet that killed him. Ballistic is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 17, 2026.
