Approximately two months have passed since Bethesda Game Studios unveiled their eagerly anticipated remake, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, and players are still enjoying every bit of the revamped RPG just as much as they did with the 2006 version.
At the onset of the game, players have a choice between intimidating Imperial Guards for their armor or immediately eliminating Mythic Dawn assassins that appear prior to Emperor Uriel Septim’s demise. This reminds one of the early 2000s gaming era due to the players’ innovative and unpredictable approach to role-playing, which can grant additional experience points before actual gameplay officially begins. For those not familiar with this reference, it refers to a strategy employed at the start of the RPG that provides quick level-ups.
In a 17-year-old forum discussion on GameFAQs, fans expressed enjoyment about battling numerous assassins, describing it as both entertaining and beneficial for character advancement. Fast forward to today, and the gaming community is still vigorously eliminating Mythic Dawn members, as evidenced by a recent Reddit post. The poster boasts, “I’ve accomplished it! I annihilated the entire Mythic Dawn cult.” A screenshot accompanies the post, showing a colossal pile of slain cult members.
I did it. I killed the entirety of the mythic dawn cult. from r/oblivion
Although they didn’t literally exterminate them all (it’s impossible, which is why the 2006 GameFAQs thread refers to them as “unlimited”), they did manage to eliminate quite a number. The humor among fans makes the situation even more amusing. One fan quips, “On his way out, the Emperor trips over a body and cracks open his skull and dies anyway,” while another points out that it’s impossible to genuinely save the Emperor (without using cheats or in any significant manner).
Issue? Resolution? Eliminate issue.” Later, someone adds that “contemporary challenges call for contemporary solutions.” Another fan expresses enthusiasm about being able to carry out a few unorthodox actions in the game, and describes it as if they were playing Oblivion after experiencing Doom Eternal.
