Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the brother and sister team behind the popular It movies and the It: Welcome to Derry TV series, have established themselves as experts in the horror genre. It’s no surprise, then, that they’ve started their own production company focused on horror, called Nocturna. Their first film, They Will Kill You, starring Zazie Beetz, is coming soon, and the final, very gory trailer has just been released.
The film features Zazie Beetz as Asia Reaves, a housekeeper who discovers her new job in a New York City skyscraper is a trap. She’s been brought there to be a human sacrifice for a Satanic cult. They think she’ll be an easy victim, but the trailer shows they underestimated her.
You can likely predict the intense action and violence in They Will Kill You even without seeing it. The movie is being promoted as a blend of Ready or Not and The Raid, and that energy is definitely present in the trailer. It features Beetz battling her way through a building full of dangerous enemies. The film also boasts a strong cast, including Patricia Arquette playing a no-nonsense character, Tom Felton continuing to take on diverse roles after Harry Potter, Boogie Nights star Heather Graham, and Myha’la, who recently gained recognition from HBO’s Industry.
The team behind They Will Kill You has a strong background in thrilling films. Director Kirill Sokolov is known for his darkly comedic film Why Don’t You Just Die!, and he co-wrote the screenplay with Alex Litvak, who has worked on movies like Predators and The Three Musketeers. The Muschietti brothers also joined the project with the goal of creating a fun, exciting, and purely entertaining movie experience.
Barbara Muschietti described the film as a really enjoyable blend of horror, comedy, and action. She told Deadline last year that it’s the kind of movie that will leave audiences feeling good, and she believes that’s exactly what people need right now.
