The Waste Bear quest in Soulframe centers around discovering the fate of Bromius, a normally kind and massive creature. He’s been drastically corrupted, but players have the chance to restore him if they’re willing to take on the task.

Getting Started

To begin this adventure (as of Prelude 12), find Verminia in Nightfold and speak with her. If she isn’t there yet, first complete the ‘Brewer of Hues’ quest to unlock her and add her to your Nightfold. Once you’ve spoken to Verminia, go to the location marked on the map and interact with the sap-dripping tree. Finally, return to Nightfold and place the sap in Verminia’s cauldron by speaking with her.
Rendezvous with Verminia

Once you’ve spoken with Vermina, exit the Nightfold and open your map. You’ll see a golden circle indicating her approximate location – she’s in the eastern area. When you find her, she’ll upgrade your guide by combining your sparrow and a rat into a creature named Floppet. Then, simply press ‘G’ to activate your guide and follow Floppet to the next destination.
To Wevetwood

Head into the Wevetwood, following the Floppet. You’ll find a large, damaged tree. Be careful – small, dangerous creatures hide in the woods. When you interact with the tree – which will probably make enemies appear – defeat them. This will show a cutscene explaining what happened to Bromius.
Where grow the elder voicing trees?

Your guide will lead you to a shimmering purple barrier. To pass through, you’ll need a special song, and to create it, you need musical notes. You already have one note from the first tree, but you’ll need to find three more. Your map shows three markets, and each one has a tree in the middle where you can find a note.

Talk to everyone to get a helpful clue, but watch out for enemies that might appear. Once you’ve gathered clues from all three people, go back to the purple barrier and play the song. This will make the barrier disappear, allowing you to enter. Be ready for a battle inside! After defeating the enemies, interact with the strange metal container in the middle of the room.
You’ll learn more about Bromius and what happens to his important magical seed. He’s now chasing after the person who stole it.
Save the Seed
Head down into the wasteland following the path the Mendicant took. The land is barren and dangerous, and you’ll face attacks from groups of Mendicant Knights. Defeat them all, but be careful – they can teleport around quickly. Just stay on the path and eliminate any enemies you come across.
The Wazzard of the Wastes

Get ready for a miniboss battle! To get the seed back, we need to defeat the Wazzard of the Wastes. Luckily, its attacks aren’t too difficult. It can shoot energy waves that you can dodge with a well-timed roll. It also transforms into a tree and rains down energy meteors, and will summon giant, spider-like enemies to fight you while it hides.
This boss is easily defeated by being aggressive, so attack him up close with your melee weapon. He’ll try to create distance, and you can even push him out of the arena, preventing him from transforming or calling for help. Just keep attacking until he’s finished. Once he’s defeated, he’ll turn into a tree in the middle of the arena, which you can interact with to obtain the seed.
The Neath’uns

Now, let’s go down into the tunnels nearby. Return to the spot where you found the large metal jug and follow the Floppet into the caves. This part is fairly simple: just follow your guide. As you go, you’ll reach areas you can move forward through. Keep an eye out for purple-glowing barrels – they’ll be stuck in walls or under branches. When you see one, throw your sword at it to continue.
Destroying these objects will release a magical fluid, creating new routes for you to explore and progress. Continue forward, building bridges and defeating enemies, until you reach the final area. This section is a bit trickier: go around the right side of the main hill and break the purple energy barrel. Then, simply head upwards, destroying any runes you encounter to open up new pathways.
The Waste Bear fight
The battle with Bromius is challenging but manageable. He has a lot of health, so the fight will take some time. The key is to watch out for his claw swipes, jumps, and falling rocks. Once you learn his attack patterns, it shouldn’t be too difficult to dodge them and win.
