The Untimely Death Of Oblivion Remastered’s Adoring Fan Has Left Me Crushed And Empty
I find myself quite fond of the Irritating Fan in Oblivion Remastered. He’s designed to serve as a humorous annoyance, deliberately grating on our nerves. There are numerous video clips and internet memes showcasing various methods players have used to eliminate this character, and I recall locking him up in the basement of my Bruma house during my childhood playthrough of Oblivion so he would stop bothering me.
Since that time, I’ve had a change of heart. With the inclusion of Adoring Fan in Starfield, I decided to make him part of my crew permanently. He may be bland, unproductive, and annoying, but I was eager to give him another chance and embark on exciting journeys with him using Oblivion Remastered.
And then he was taken from me way too soon.
Indeed, I’m aware I could restore my saved progress, but I choose not to. Furthermore, it’s clear that the Adoring Fan is bound to reappear in some capacity, given the nature of the game. However, this isn’t the focus of our discussion.
The Only Reason I Fought In The Arena

I’ve never been fond of gladiators, and the Arena in the Imperial City was more of a pastime than something that held any real interest for me. I don’t battle with dreams of becoming Grand Champion. Instead, I fight so he can bestow that title upon me. When I acquire my Adoring Fan, I won’t revisit the Arena district of the Imperial City as there’s nothing left for me there.
Rather than leaving him behind, I decided to bring him with me as we embarked on our adventures. Following the conclusion of the Arena questline, I felt compelled to undertake the Nights of the Nine pilgrimage. Consequently, our destination became Anvil. The journey ahead was going to be lengthy since I prefer not to use fast travel.
Instead of saying “adventure,” you could describe it as “a journey filled with exciting experiences and challenges.” To elaborate further, in your text, the adventure involves leaving your horse at the Imperial City stables because you didn’t want to stop frequently to deal with aggressive creatures or protect your steed. Additionally, carrying a horse during this spiritual journey seemed incongruous to you.
The Devoted Spectator lacks combat skills, is unable to bear any loads, and carries a lantern during the night. That’s essentially all there is to him.
Upon reaching Anvil, our spiritual voyage commenced. This lengthy trek would take us through every corner of Cyrodiil, traversing it by foot. And so we embarked, venturing into the wilderness along the way, and pausing at each prayer shrine to advance our sacred journey.
Then, while evading a missile fired by a wraith amidst the remains of a fortress, I managed to slay the beast. However, upon turning around, I was met with an even more terrifying spectacle.
The Adoring Fan was adoring the ground, face first.
The Whimsy Of Adventure Died With Him

It seems like, shortly after, I blurted out something similar to “Nooooooo,” with some ‘o’s omitted or repeated. My son had been fatally caught in the line of fire, taken down by a wraith who was simply trying to maintain the torch at a distance so I could see more clearly. Initially, I hoped he was merely unconscious, that he might regain consciousness; unfortunately, he remained motionless.
As I bid farewell amidst the chilly, moist passages of these ancient remains, everything seemed a touch more frosty. Minutes later, I resumed my journey with less zest for exploration. After departing from the ruins, I embarked on the pilgrimage by myself.
Currently, I find myself positioned outside my humble abode in Bravil, gazing upon the town and the lake adjacent to it. The ambiance of Cyrodiil seems somewhat subdued, not tranquil, simply less bustling.
Update: He showed up again. So.
