Mollie Pearce openly shared the challenges of traveling with a stoma bag in a recent Instagram post on Monday.
I’m such a fan of Ivie from The Traitors, and I was so happy to hear she got to go to Thailand with Connor! She’s said she’s really thankful to finally be able to travel, which is amazing. But honestly, it was a little sad to hear that even during this dream trip, she had moments where she felt down and just not herself. It’s good she’s being so open about that – it makes her even more relatable!
In a heartfelt video, Molly confidently showed off her stoma bag while modeling bikinis and fashionable clothes during her trip to Thailand. She shared that she didn’t encounter anyone else with a stoma bag throughout her travels.
She also posted some older videos of herself in the hospital, explaining that she wouldn’t have been able to travel at that time.
In a recent, honest video, Mollie introduced herself and shared that she spent three weeks traveling in Thailand while using a stoma bag.
I’ve always dreamed of taking this trip, and I wanted to share my experience with you all – what it was like, how my stoma gave me freedom, and the difficulties I still deal with.
To be honest, having a stoma actually made this trip possible. A few years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to travel like this at all.
Honestly, for a long time, my life revolved around worrying about the basics – like needing to find a bathroom right now, managing constant pain, and bracing for when my condition would flare up. It felt like I was always questioning if I’d even be able to enjoy anything, which was exhausting. I was constantly in a state of ‘what if?’ and it really held me back.
I’m healthier now thanks to my stoma, and a recent three-week trip to Thailand really highlighted that. It didn’t hold me back from enjoying things – in fact, it allowed me more freedom to do what I wanted.
There were so many times on this trip I realized I wouldn’t have been able to experience it without my stoma, and I’m truly grateful for it. I even affectionately call it Sid!
To be honest, things weren’t always easy. I’m good at showing the best parts of my life online – things like beautiful sunsets and moments of freedom – but that’s not the whole story.
Looking back, I definitely had times when I felt down and times when I felt like an outsider.
You know, traveling was a bit lonely in a way I hadn’t expected. I was constantly looking around, and I didn’t see a single other person who had a stoma bag – not once. It might not seem like a big deal to others, but for me, it really was. It just highlighted how different my experience felt.
‘Because sometimes seeing someone who looks a little bit like you makes you feel less alone.
Even though I’m grateful for what my stoma has allowed me to do, it’s still not the body I would have preferred.
I’m realizing it’s possible to feel both immense gratitude for my body and struggle with living in it. I also appreciate the positive impact my stoma has had on my life.
Even though I’m proud of how strong I am, I still wish some parts of this experience hadn’t been so difficult. This trip proved my physical strength, but also taught me it’s alright to acknowledge when I’m struggling.
As someone who’s spent years helping people feel their best, I want to say this directly: if you’re navigating life with a stoma, or any physical difference that makes you feel…other, please know this: it’s okay to struggle. It’s absolutely normal to find things hard, and needing time to process those feelings doesn’t make you weak or ungrateful. It just makes you human.
‘We’re just doing our best to learn, how to hold the good and difficult at the same time.’
Mollie shared a video and explained she’d recently returned from a three-week trip to Thailand. She wanted to show what it was like traveling with her stoma bag, including the less glamorous aspects she doesn’t usually share online.
I really appreciate what my body is capable of, even though it can still be challenging at times. I’m realizing it’s okay to feel both gratitude and struggle simultaneously.
As someone who keeps a close eye on pop culture and lifestyle trends, I remember Mollie really shining on the final season of Dancing On Ice! She was paired with the wonderful Colin Grafton, and they were fantastic to watch. It was a shame to see ITV ultimately decide to cancel the show, especially with Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern hosting – they were a great team!
The celebrity appeared on the show to support people with stoma bags, something she understands personally. She had a stoma fitted at 18, seven years after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.
Mollie, who was born without fingers on her right hand, recently told the Daily Mail why she decided to compete on Dancing On Ice. She explained that, now that her health has improved, she felt ready to seize the opportunity and challenge herself.
She explained that she was grateful for her current health and opportunities, noting she wouldn’t have been capable of pursuing them just four years prior.
‘I want to take all the opportunities I possibly can now and take it all in.’
Let me tell you, watching the show Traitors this year was a real rollercoaster! I was absolutely gutted for Mollie when Harry completely played her. He had her believing they were on the same side, acting like a trustworthy ‘Faithful’ player, but it was all a clever act. Turns out, he was one of the ‘Traitors’ the whole time, and his deception ultimately won him the £95,000 prize. It was a shocking moment, and honestly, a tough one to watch as a fan!
Mollie was heartbroken when Harry confessed he’d tricked her and kept the prize money for himself. The latest season of The Traitors finished airing on BBC last month.
Rachel Duffy and Stephen Libby won the large cash prize after successfully deceiving everyone throughout the entire show.
The show Celebrity Traitors was very popular with BBC audiences, and surprisingly, Alan Carr was revealed as one of the Traitors and won money for charity.
The comedian won the celebrity version of the show, earning a remarkable £87,500 for a charity that helps children with neuroblastoma. Around 15 million viewers watched the final episode.
