The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Video Hints at Major Crossover With [SPOILER]

A new video for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie teases some crossovers with other Nintendo titles.

The next Super Mario movie, a follow-up to the 2023 hit, is coming to U.S. theaters next month. Based on the popular video games Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, the film is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, and Chris Pratt returns to voice Mario.

What do we see in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie video?

A new video posted on the official Twitter account for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie showcases the film’s vibrant characters. Fans have noticed appearances by Nintendo favorites from outside the Mario universe, including R.O.B. and three Pikmin.

Check out the video below:

Fans already knew R.O.B., voiced by Ed Skudder, would be in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie after seeing him in a trailer. Now, they’re curious about how significant his role will be, considering he’s appeared in games like Gyromite and Super Smash Bros.

The appearance of the Pikmin is a surprising addition to the movie, as it hadn’t been revealed until recently. Nintendo has released four main Pikmin games and two spin-offs over the last thirty years, and the Pikmin have also made cameos in other games. Like R.O.B., it’s currently unknown how significant their role will be in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Let me tell you, the voice acting in this film is phenomenal. Chris Pratt and Charlie Day are great, but the supporting cast really shines. Anya Taylor-Joy is a perfect Princess Peach, and Jack Black absolutely becomes Bowser – it’s hilarious! Keegan-Michael Key is a delightful Toad, and we’ve got some fantastic additions like Donald Glover as Yoshi and Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina. Even Bowser Jr., voiced by Benny Safdie, gets some great moments. Seriously, the whole voice cast is a major win.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arrives on April 1, 2026.
