Whenever I hunt for an affordably priced GPU in the year 2025, I often encounter the RX 7800 XT. It’s one of the few mid-range graphics cards I’ve found lately that doesn’t cost a fortune over its suggested retail price. Although it can’t match up with the RX 9070 and RTX 5070, it still offers a good performance for less than $600. By the way, it currently includes Monster Hunter Wilds! Yes, indeed.

I would opt for the XFX SWFT 210 version of the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, as it’s currently available for $520.56 on Amazon. Although it costs about $20 above the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP), considering other custom models are selling for nearly $900 at Newegg, this competitive graphics card can be considered reasonably priced.

In simpler terms, because the RX 7800 XT graphics card includes Monster Hunter World, you can effectively reduce its Amazon price by $69.99. This brings the total cost down to approximately $450.57. If you’re in the market for a gaming PC upgrade and want to get your hands on Capcom’s latest role-playing game, this could be a great deal for you.

You’re currently enjoying gaming at 1440p resolution, but you’re considering stepping up to a 4K experience. Alternatively, you might be considering purchasing the latest Monster Hunter game.

Typically, I’d suggest waiting for the release of RX 9070 XT or considering the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070. However, given the current situation, neither option seems feasible due to ongoing shortages in PC gaming hardware. This has essentially delayed the arrival of the next generation of GPUs. Under the circumstances, I wholeheartedly recommend the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT. Although it may not offer the same frame rate boost as newer mid-range models, if those are hard to come by or unavailable, they might as well not exist.

Regarding the anticipated performance of the RX 7800 XT, here are some insights: In our tests, the RDNA 3 card handled Returnal exceptionally well with ultra 4K settings turned on, consistently achieving an average of 60fps. Given that Sony’s PC port is quite demanding, it was comforting to see the card perform so smoothly at this setting. Additionally, the card demonstrated impressive performance in Hitman 3 under the same conditions, averaging approximately 116fps, a performance that is far from disappointing.

If you like to activate advanced ray tracing features, the RX 7800 XT can handle intricate lighting effects more effectively by either lowering the resolution to 1440p (its ideal resolution) or using FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) and Fluid Motion Frames, AMD’s version of Frame Generation. Unlike Nvidia GPUs, you can activate AMD’s Frame Generation techniques directly from any game at the driver level, which will provide a performance boost in games that are less dependent on low latency.

It would be quite amusing if the RX 7800 XT, which comes bundled with the game, didn’t fulfill Monster Hunter Wilds system requirements. However, luckily, it exceeds them comfortably. While Capcom suggests using an 8GB card like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060, AMD’s mid-range GPU, the RX 7800 XT with its 16GB GDDR6 VRAM, surpasses their recommendations. If you aim to play at 4K without significant sacrifices, you might need to adjust a few settings. Nevertheless, you’ll ultimately enjoy a visually appealing experience with a frame rate that is more than satisfactory.

I plan on monitoring the GPU market closely throughout 2025, and if cards similar to the RX 7800 XT become available, I will definitely suggest them. Given that stock for the RTX 5080 has been scarce since its launch, and the RTX 5090 seems almost mythical, my personal view is that it’s wiser to focus on obtaining GPUs that are actually in stock at or near their Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP), rather than chasing after GPUs that are hard to find or don’t exist in practice.
