The Pussycat Dolls alum Carmit Bachar was blindsided by girl group reuniting for world tour

Kimberly Wyatt, Nicole Scherzinger, and Ashley Roberts of The Pussycat Dolls recently got back together to release a new song and plan a world tour, but one person wasn’t told about it beforehand.

Carmit Bachar was the last original member of the Grammy-nominated girl group, joining in 1995 when they were a burlesque act performing regularly at popular West Hollywood venues like The Viper Room and The Roxy Theatre.

The singer, who has over 291,000 followers on social media, said she found out about the group’s decision at the same time as everyone else and wasn’t consulted beforehand. She shared this information in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

Considering my long involvement with the brand – I helped build it from the very beginning, even before it became well-known, and I played a key role in securing the record deal – I would have preferred to be contacted directly.

Bachar said she was personally disappointed by the Pussycat Dolls’ recent decision, but she’s still proud of her contribution to the group’s success.

Look, I just need everyone to understand, I’m not trying to cause drama or anything. I just want to be real with you all, and show some respect to the incredible fans who’ve stuck with us – with him – all this time. He said that, you know, and it just… it means so much to me that he feels that way. I just want everyone to know the truth, for the fans!

I believe in being open and treating others with respect. Right now, I’m prioritizing my health and focusing on a positive future.

Bachar left TPD in 2008 after being forced to choose between touring and a long-term creative project. She later rejoined the band in 2019, but their planned comeback was unfortunately canceled in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The singer, known for her work with Voodoo, balances her career with family life. She and her husband, Kevin Whitaker, who founded Special Touch Media, are raising their 14-year-old daughter, Keala Rose.

Bachar, who used to be a professional rhythmic gymnast, once danced as a backup performer for many famous artists, including Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Aaliyah, the Black Eyed Peas, Ricky Martin, and No Doubt.

The Los Angeles native also appeared in several movies, showcasing their dancing skills in films like 13 Going on 30, Along Came Polly, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, The Hot Chick, Good Burger, and North.

The group’s current lineup wore matching white outfits in New York City on Wednesday to promote their new single, “Club Song,” featuring Lil Kim and Mya. The song was released last week.

Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, and Ashley Roberts are releasing deluxe editions of their albums PCD and Doll Domination, and will begin a 53-city tour, the PCD Forever Tour, on June 5th at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California.

Over the years, the group has seen many changes, but Nicole Scherzinger has always been the clear frontwoman, while the other members were previously seen as supporting performers.

The award-winning actress wanted 75% of the profits and to have a say in creative decisions, which led to a four-year legal battle with the creator of The Pussycat Dolls, Robin Antin. The dispute was finally resolved last year.

The 64-year-old choreographer seems enthusiastic about the 47-year-old actress from Sunset Boulevard leading the group’s new tour. She was spotted in Manhattan on Wednesday, happily working behind the scenes to promote it.

Nicole Scherzinger is set to appear in a new comedy called Girl Group, directed by Rebel Wilson, who has been facing some challenges with the film. Jennifer Coolidge and Randall Park also star in the movie.
