The most surprising celebrity feuds: From Nicki Minaj’s brutal swipe at Miley Cyrus to Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson’s decade-long spat

Honestly, it’s just a fact of life, isn’t it? Like, you can always count on a massive celebrity fight hitting the news. It’s right up there with, well, you know…death and taxes. I live for it, though! Give me the drama, the accusations, the whole thing! It’s endlessly fascinating to watch, and it always happens.

Hollywood stars aren’t always friendly, but sometimes disagreements happen unexpectedly.

Oh my god, you will NOT believe what happened! Jodie Marsh, who I adore, completely went off on Paul Weller this week! Apparently, she was trying to auction off some of his stuff – like, actual Jam memorabilia! – to help raise money for her amazing animal sanctuary, Fripps Farm. I mean, I totally get wanting to help the animals, but it caused a HUGE drama with Paul Weller! I’m so invested in this, it’s wild!

A 47-year-old former model announced she was auctioning off Paul Weller memorabilia – including a gold disc, signed posters, and concert tickets. However, Paul Weller’s official social media account clarified that he does not support or endorse the auction.

Paul recently posted on X (formerly Twitter) to clarify that an online auction claiming to offer competition prizes and memorabilia is not authorized by him and is not an official event.

Jodie, who runs an animal sanctuary in Essex and cares for 400 rescued animals, used Instagram to publicly criticize the 67-year-old musician, claiming he’s distancing himself from her because she’s friends with Nigel Farage.

In a post that has since been removed, she explained that Paul Weller was upset she was friends with Nigel Farage, and as a result, he withdrew from the auction.

It’s disappointing that we can’t simply respect each other’s differences and live and let live. That said, I want to confirm that the auction is definitely happening.

It’s okay that he doesn’t want to voice his support publicly. However, it’s really disheartening coming from someone we’ve consistently championed, helped, and admired for so long.

It seems like some people focus too much on how they appear to others, instead of what truly matters in life.

It’s disappointing that Paul, despite his strong support for Gaza, seems hesitant to publicly back a cause that affects our own community. It’s a letdown, considering all he’s done elsewhere.

Okay, so Paul is completely dedicated to helping Gaza, and it’s amazing! He’s organizing this incredible concert, ‘Gig for Gaza’ in 2025, and all the proceeds are going to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) and this other fantastic organization, Gaza Forever. I’m already counting down the days – it’s just so inspiring to see someone using their platform to make a real difference!

Jodie stated the items were genuine and had belonged to Paul’s father, John, who previously managed the singer. She also said the auction was supported by Nicky Weller.

The television personality said Fripps Farm really needed donations to help support the animals.

So, who else has been involved in a surprising feud?

Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj

In 2015, Miley and Nicki were involved in a public argument on television, which started because of a disagreement Nicki had with Taylor Swift.

The 22-year-old singer, known as Flowers, chimed in during a New York Times interview, saying, ‘It’s important to know how to communicate with others.’

The writing I read came across as harsh, a bit like Nicki Minaj’s style – and if you’re familiar with her, that’s not known for being gentle. It lacked politeness. I believe you can communicate with people in a much more open and loving way.

The situation escalated at the VMAs when Nicki, while accepting her award, publicly confronted Miley.

Concluding her speech, she turned her attention to someone who had been critical of her in the media, saying, ‘So, to Miley, who had a lot to say… what’s going on?’

As a huge fan, I was watching the show and when the camera focused on Miley, who was hosting, she looked a little taken aback by what Nicki said. But honestly, she handled it so well, quickly regaining her composure and responding calmly. It was impressive to see!

The pop star, known for speaking her mind, said, ‘We’re all in the same business, and we all make mistakes when we’re interviewed. Nicki, congratulations!’

Not quite done, Nicki mouthed ‘Don’t play with me, b***h’ before leaving the stage.

Even four years later, Nicki hadn’t forgiven Miley for the comments Nicki made about her during an appearance on her Queen Radio show.

Nicki Minaj criticized Miley Cyrus, stating that Cyrus shouldn’t criticize those she considers superior, and playfully referred to herself as queen.

‘She disrespected me in a magazine article for no reason.

Nicki claimed she witnessed Miley engaging in a sexual act with producer Mike WiLL Made-It in the recording studio. This reportedly happened while Miley was working on her 2013 album, Bangerz.

Nicki then continued her criticism of Miley, referencing Miley’s character from Black Mirror and saying, ‘Now you’re copying my style with pink wigs, everyone wants to be like me.’

The online backlash started after Miley sang a line in her new song, Cattitude, saying she preferred Cardi B over Nicki Minaj.

Miley clarified that she doesn’t take sides in the conflict between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, explaining she appreciates both artists.

‘Anytime you want to feel powerful and strong, that’s my go-to, Cardi and Nicki,’ Miley said.

Vin Diesel and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel started having issues about ten years ago while filming Fast Five, one of the movies in the Fast and Furious series.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Back in 2016, while they were filming ‘The Fate of the Furious,’ this actor – I won’t even say his name! – actually called Vin Diesel a ‘candy a’ on Facebook! It went totally viral, everyone was talking about it. I still have the screenshot, it’s insane! Seriously, a ‘candy a’! I was shocked, but honestly? It just made me love Vin even more. He handled it like a champ, of course.

He described some of his male colleagues as genuinely professional and good people, but criticized others for their lack of courage. He used offensive language, calling those he disliked ‘cowards’ and a similarly insulting term.

He admitted that if you’re watching the movie next April and notice some scenes where he seems absent or visibly angry, you’re probably right to think he wasn’t fully engaged at the time.

Dwayne removed his original post, but later hinted at wanting to mend things. He followed up a few days later by saying that families often disagree, even about important beliefs.

The actors were not seen together in any press tours or any scenes in the actual movie itself.

In 2019, Dwayne publicly showed support for Vin, seemingly ending their past disagreements. He thanked Vin on Instagram for supporting his movie, ‘Hobbs & Shaw’.

Honestly, when Vin Diesel tried to spin things as just ‘tough love’ after their little feud, I was so frustrated for Dwayne! Dwayne basically said, ‘Nope, not happening,’ and shut down any talk of returning to the Fast Family right then and there. I thought that was that… but then, surprisingly, he seemed to soften up later on. It was a rollercoaster, seriously!

I found it really funny, and it seemed like everyone else did too. I don’t want to say anything more about it, other than I wish them all the best, Johnson stated.

Dwayne has stated he stands by his original comments, but wishes he hadn’t aired the disagreement publicly. He confirmed, ‘I meant what I said.’

The disagreement between them led to Dwayne Johnson effectively leaving the main Fast & Furious series and starring in the spin-off movie Hobbs & Shaw alongside Jason Statham.

Britney Spears and Alyssa Milano

In December 2022, Alyssa expressed concern for Britney’s health on social media after Britney came back to Instagram following a short break.

‘Someone please go check on Britney Spears’, the actress tweeted at the time.

Shortly after posting on Twitter, Britney used Instagram to publicly accuse the Charmed actress of bullying.

The singer expressed sadness and frustration about online comments from people who don’t personally know them, calling it a form of bullying. They shared this reaction alongside a screenshot of the original post that upset them.

Spears emphasized that women should be supporting each other instead of tearing each other down.

About a month after their public disagreement, Alyssa Milano’s spokesperson said she contacted Britney Spears directly. The message reportedly included Alyssa offering Britney her support.

Will Smith and Chris Rock

The moment Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars stunned everyone watching – but it wasn’t the first time Rock had upset the actor.

For the past five years, things have been tense between these two because of ongoing jokes made about Will.

During his hosting gig at the 2016 Oscars, Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, in his opening speech, which caused a problem with Will.

Chris started his routine with a joke about diversity, playfully referencing Jada’s decision to boycott the Oscars after Will wasn’t nominated for his role in the film Concussion. They’ve worked together on the Madagascar animated movies.

Chris explained that Jada Pinkett Smith was upset and wouldn’t be attending the Oscars. He compared her boycott to his own hypothetical boycott of Rihanna’s lingerie line, jokingly adding that he wasn’t invited to either event.

It’s frustrating. Will deserved a nomination, considering how talented he is. And it feels wrong that he earned $20 million for a movie like Wild Wild West.

This year’s Oscars ‘in memoriam’ segment will focus specifically on Black individuals who were fatally shot by police while on their way to see movies. That’s the plan, and I wanted to make sure everyone knew.

Following the dig, TMZ had approached Will for comment but he remain silent and refused to answer.

Chris didn’t stop at just a few insults. In 2018, he made things worse by posting a controversial comment on social media that joked about the actor’s past marriage, further escalating their feud.

Will shared a birthday message for his former wife, Sheree Zampino, with a photo, and Chris responded with a comment that quickly became popular online.

Will Smith wished Sheree Zampino a happy birthday on social media, calling her the ‘Best Baby Mama Ever’ and expressing his love for her. He shared the message with a photo of Sheree and their son, Trey.

Chris then commented: ‘Wow. You have a very understanding wife.’

Sheree then responded to Chris, replying: ‘Don’t hate.’

The incident gained a lot of attention because Chris Rock had previously made jokes about both Jada and Will Smith at the 2016 Oscars.

I was absolutely stunned when Will reacted at the 2022 Oscars. It all happened after Chris made a really insensitive joke about Jada’s shaved head. For those who don’t know, Jada has been so brave about sharing her struggles with alopecia and the hair loss it causes, so seeing that joke land just felt awful.

During the Oscars ceremony, Will Smith became visibly upset and, after slapping Chris Rock, returned to his seat while yelling, “Don’t mention my wife’s name like that!”

After the incident, Will and Jada reportedly held hands throughout the ceremony.

Henry Winkler and Tom Hanks

Hollywood nice guys Tom Hanks and Henry Winkler have rumored to be feuding for three decades.

The conflict allegedly started when the star of “Barry” directed a portion of Tom Hanks’ 1989 film, “Turner & Hooch,” a popular movie about a detective and his dog, for thirteen days.

Henry was removed from the project after less than two weeks because of disagreements about the creative direction.

He was replaced by Roger Spottiswoode, who also directed The 6th Day with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

You know, looking back on my time at People magazine, I remember a really abrupt ending. I was called into Jeffrey Katzenberg’s office – he was a producer there – and he simply said, ‘You’ve got all your belongings? You can go home now.’ It was definitely a surprise, and that was that!

At the 2020 Golden Globe Awards, Henry appeared unhappy while Tom received the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

Shortly after, when asked by TMZ, the Emmy-winning actor stated, “I’m not feuding with Tom Hanks. What people are saying isn’t accurate.”

Hilarie Burton and Candace Cameron Bure

Candace Cameron Bure has been involved in several public disagreements, notably with JoJo Siwa, Hilarie Burton, Raven-Symone, and Scheana Shay. These conflicts often stem from her openly sharing her conservative Christian beliefs.

Meanwhile Hilarie blasted Candace as a ‘bigot’ in 2022, over her Great American Family channel.

Hilarie called Candy a bigot in a tweet, saying she didn’t think Jesus would approve of someone like her. She then sarcastically encouraged Candy to profit from what Hilarie saw as prejudiced views.

She continued her attack, calling the person ‘disgusting’ in a subsequent tweet and also criticized Bill Abbott, the CEO of Great American Media.

Okay, seriously, I knew it! Burton is SO right – they’re just showing their true colors now. I’ve been saying this for YEARS, even back when that awful Abbott was over at Hallmark. I was so relieved when they finally dropped him. It’s not a ‘trend,’ people! It’s just…people! It makes me so mad they ever thought it was.

That person and their associates are appalling. And you as well, Candy. There’s absolutely nothing unusual or wrong with same-sex couples.

Two days later, Candace responded with a video on Instagram. She addressed people who were criticizing her beliefs and attacking her online, as well as those she felt were trying to damage her reputation, but she didn’t mention Hilarie specifically.

Nicki Minaj and Latto

In 2022, Nicki Minaj and Latto publicly disagreed on social media after Minaj expressed her frustration on Twitter. She was upset that the Grammy Awards had changed the category of her song, “Super Freaky Girl,” from rap to pop.

Okay, so there was a bit of drama after the Grammy nominations were announced. Initially, one rapper wasn’t happy with how things shook out, and things got even more interesting when Latto chimed in. She felt her hit, ‘Big Energy,’ deserved to be considered in the Pop category, and brought that up as a point of contention. It really sparked a conversation about genre boundaries and where artists feel they best fit!

The initial tweet sparked a heated exchange between the two artists. It quickly worsened when Latto criticized Nicki’s age and referenced the fact that Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, had previously been convicted of attempted rape in the 1990s.

Nicki Minaj first voiced her concerns about the Recording Academy on Twitter, and then followed up with a video on her Instagram Stories on Thursday.

She started a discussion on Twitter, bringing up Latto’s hit song “Big Energy” when expressing her frustration with how rap nominations were being handled. She argued that if Sabrina Carpenter’s song was moved out of the rap category, Latto’s song should be too, and anyone who disagreed was either a Nicki Minaj critic or a troll.

I watched her Instagram video and honestly, it felt like she believed she was being put in an impossible position. She seemed to think nominating her alongside artists as huge and different as Adele and Harry Styles was a deliberate setup, like they weren’t giving her a fair chance.

It feels like the rules are always changing for me. They seem to prioritize promoting people they can profit from – the ones who benefit these large corporations and hold power behind the scenes. They need someone they can make money off of, so they constantly shift the requirements for my success.

She wondered what would happen when voters in popular music categories—many of whom are white and older, regardless of location—had to choose between her and established stars like Adele and Harry Styles.

As a music and pop culture enthusiast, I found Nicki’s point in her recent video really interesting. She highlighted that ‘Super Freaky Girl’ and ‘Big Energy’ actually had the same producers. To her, that felt like a strong argument that both tracks should have been categorized as pop songs, had either one been considered that way.

When Latto first saw Nicki’s tweet about her song, she responded by doubling down on her own achievements and maintaining a strong, independent stance.

She expressed her frustration on Twitter, saying it feels like nothing goes right for her, even though she didn’t directly mention Nicki Minaj or her posts. She added that she’s unable to enjoy any recognition or awards she receives.

Nicki Minaj responded to criticism in a now-deleted tweet, calling Latto disrespectful and suggesting she didn’t appreciate those who came before her.

She wrote that this woman, ‘Karen,’ has likely talked about her in over a hundred interviews. Karen claims she waited in line for the ‘Pink Friday’ album release, wearing a Barbie chain and with her signature bangs and pink hair. But now, when it matters, she’s choosing to stay silent instead of supporting the Black woman she previously called her biggest inspiration.

Latto initially reached out to Nicki Minaj privately, but Nicki was still hurt that Latto hadn’t publicly supported her.

As a huge Latto fan, I was really disappointed to see what happened with Nicki Minaj. Latto – Alyssa Stephens, to give her full name – felt really hurt when Nicki seemed to be calling out her song online. It felt like Nicki was subtly criticizing her on Twitter without actually saying her name, and Latto definitely wasn’t happy about it.

She explained she didn’t want to get involved in online drama with someone she admired. She mentioned this reminded her of the first time she privately messaged him about his passive-aggressive tweets. While she agreed with his point of view, she felt his approach was unnecessarily hurtful.

I initially reached out to you privately because I didn’t want to air out our issues publicly with someone I respect. Like the first time I messaged you about your indirect tweets, I wanted to address this directly. While I do agree with some of your points, the way you’re handling things feels unnecessarily hurtful.

Doja Cat and Noah Schnapp

In 2022, Doja Cat publicly criticized 17-year-old actor Noah for sharing their private conversation online, calling it a dishonest and disrespectful act.

Noah Schnapp, known for playing Will Byers on Stranger Things, sent a direct message asking if Joseph Quinn had a girlfriend. He initially asked Joseph to contact him, then quickly clarified by asking about his relationship status.

He jokingly suggested she message him directly, saying “LMAOO slide into his dms,” but she replied that she didn’t know his Instagram or Twitter handle, and he didn’t have direct messages enabled. He then gave her Quinn’s username so she could contact him.

After what happened, Doja Cat explained in a video that she originally planned to create a short TikTok, but it didn’t come together. Instead, she went with an Instagram Live video and mentioned she hoped someone was capturing it.

She felt it was insensitive of Noah to post their private conversation online, but acknowledged that young people sometimes make mistakes and damage their relationships.

‘I’m just gonna say something right now, about the whole f***ing Noah Schnapp thing,’ she began.

Doja Cat began by saying, ‘Look, let’s just take it easy.’ She pointed out that Noah is young, though she wasn’t sure exactly how old he is, but she doubted he was over 21.

When you’re young, it’s easy to make errors in judgment and do things you regret. I’m really trying to be reasonable and understanding about it.

She continued, saying he often acted foolishly, spoke without thinking, and ruined his relationships with others. He simply made errors in judgment.

Doja Cat acknowledged she’s made her own mistakes and learned from them, but expressed strong disapproval that her private conversation was shared publicly, calling it a sneaky and underhanded act.

Noah went back to TikTok a week later and shared that he had resolved things with the artist behind ‘Paint The Town Red’.

He shared a video with Doja Cat’s song ‘Kiss Me More’ playing, and wrote that everything is okay. He explained he’s apologized, still follows her, and loves her music, adding that there are no hard feelings. He included two red heart emojis with the post.
