The GOAT of Sekiro has already soloed Elden Ring Nightreign’s final boss as its katana-parrying samurai guy
YouTube content creator Ongbal, recognized for their impeccable and trendy playthroughs in games like Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and especially Sekiro, has returned to tackle Elden Ring’s Nightreign challenge. The day after sharing their initial single-player run of the three-person cooperative game, Ongbal posted their first solo victory against Nightreign’s final boss. Below, there are spoilers regarding that boss.
Gaming YouTuber Ongbal, known for their exceptional skills in Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Sekiro, has resumed play with the Nightreign expansion of Elden Ring. Following the release of their initial single-player gameplay, they shared their first solo triumph over Nightreign’s final boss. Be cautious as there are spoilers about this boss in the following text.
As a fan of Sekiro who usually chooses katana builds in other Souls series games, Ongbal tends to prefer using the Executor sword in Nightreign. This sword’s distinctive ability lets him assume a particular stance that allows for Sekiro-style timed blocks, which is different from the complex high-risk, high-reward parries seen in Elden Ring.
In Nightreign, Heolstor, the final boss, initially adopts a weak and pitiful posture, feigning helplessness like Vendrick from Dark Souls 2. However, when his health bar is depleted for the first time, he transforms into a formidable sword-wielding deity, much like Lady Maria in Bloodborne or Gael in phase 2 of Dark Souls 3. Essentially, we’re revisiting classic boss transformation dynamics.
In this encounter, Ongbal swiftly handles the opponent, suggesting that a no-hit fight may come later. Heolstor was not my biggest challenge among Nightreign’s bosses; I found Gaping Jaw or Darkdrift Knight more difficult. However, the battle against Heolstor is visually stunning, and I must commend Ongbal for maintaining composure as the intense final boss particle effects ensued.
At this initial stage, I’m eagerly anticipating more from Nightreign, especially since it resonates with my preference for Dex-style katanas. As a fan, they’ve given me something to strive towards. Don’t forget to subscribe to Ongbal on YouTube to stay updated on their future successes.
Nightreign’s Duchess, Executor, Guardian, Ironeye, Revenant, Recluse, Raider, and Wylder Build Strategies
This revised version aims to provide a more natural and easy-to-read structure while maintaining the original intention of listing different builds for each character named “Nightreign” with varying roles.
