The Future of Bitcoin: Corporates Set to Control 50% by 2045!
Well, hold on to your wallets, folks! Jesse Myers, co-founder and COO of Onramp, a company that sounds as though it could launch your next dinner date into the stratosphere, has stirred the pot once again. Last night, he dropped a bombshell on his 92,400 Twitter followers, stating that “Strategy will own $70 trillion of Bitcoin in 20 years, making it by far the most valuable company in the history of the world.” Now, that’s a bold claim! He also added that “Bitcoin Treasury Companies will hold 50% of all BTC, way more than most Bitcoiners are prepared for.” Prepare yourselves, dear reader, we may need a new dictionary by 2045!
Treasury Firms Aiming for 10.5 Million Bitcoin
In a series of tweets that probably could have been a bestselling novel, Myers painted a picture of dedicated treasury vehicles—basically public companies whose sole reason for existence is to take advantage of the difference between cheap fiat money and their ever-growing BTC hoard. According to Myers, these treasury companies will slowly but surely emerge as the dominant buyers of Bitcoin by 2045. And you know who’s the root of this idea? None other than Michael Saylor, the man with more Bitcoin than your grandma has knitted blankets. Myers quoted Saylor, saying, “Half of all capital is simply looking for the best store of value. Bitcoin is the best SoV asset. SoV capital will osmotically flow towards Bitcoin.” Wow, just wow. Move over, gold!
Now, before you start thinking this sounds like some fancy financial mumbo jumbo, let’s get real. MicroStrategy (which is now called Strategy, because why not?) has already shown us how it’s done. This Virginia-based company has scooped up 550,000 BTC, and it’s not slowing down. They’re using high-yield preferred-stock programs—don’t worry, we had to Google what that means too—and leveraging institutional funding to keep the Bitcoin train rolling. They’re even offering bonds with yields of eight and ten percent—terms that are practically unheard of in today’s market. That’s what I call ‘swinging for the fences’!
Now, here’s where it gets even juicier. According to Myers, this setup is like having a “capital pump” that channels $318 trillion worth of bond flows straight into Bitcoin. If we follow Saylor’s ever-so-confident growth projections, Strategy alone will hoard five million Bitcoin—about a quarter of all Bitcoin available—by 2045. A little bit of a power play, don’t you think?
But wait—Japan’s Metaplanet is on a similar path. This Tokyo-listed investment house just bumped up its BTC treasury to 7,800 BTC after a ¥16.2 billion bond sale, with plans to hit 10,000 BTC before the year is up. They’re definitely not playing around. And if that’s not enough, big players like 21 Capital, backed by names like SoftBank, Tether, and Bitfinex, are also jumping in. As Myers puts it, we are witnessing “the birth of an industry.” So, if you’ve been living under a rock, you might want to come out and take a peek. It’s happening.
Myers predicts that treasury companies, which currently hold about three percent of all Bitcoin (around 630,000 BTC), will own a whopping fifty percent of the supply by 2045. That’s 10.5 million BTC, folks. At $13 million per coin (because why not dream big?), that’s a $140 trillion corporate haul. Strategy’s share alone? A modest $70 trillion. It’s almost enough to make you want to go into finance, isn’t it?
And before we all start packing our bags for a future with $13 million Bitcoin, here’s the reality check: As of this moment, BTC is trading at $110,816. Yes, you heard me—$110,816. So, in case you were wondering, now’s as good a time as any to start brushing up on your Bitcoin knowledge.
