The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is out now
Today, Bethesda unexpectedly released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, making it accessible for everyone. Since this remaster was widely anticipated, today’s livestream announcement didn’t exactly surprise us, but it was still thrilling nonetheless. Bethesda had the opportunity to reveal a future release date during the stream, but instead, they shared a short documentary highlighting the importance of Oblivion to their team and presenting Virtuous, the studio responsible for this remaster. Following this, there was a live gameplay demonstration.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is available now
This morning’s livestream kicked off at 8:00 AM and ran for approximately an hour. During this time, the eagerly anticipated shadow drop was announced following discussions among Bethesda team members about their work on the remaster. For numerous gamers, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – a game initially launched more than fourteen years ago – marked their introduction to this beloved series. It’s been confirmed that Bethesda continues to develop the sixth installment of this renowned role-playing game series; however, in the meantime, fans can look forward to enjoying this latest release as a satisfying distraction.
The developers have completely overhauled the “Oblivion” Remaster, as they stated. Every asset and visual detail has been painstakingly re-created by both Bethesda and their partner studio Virtuous. If you’re curious about this other studio that played a significant role in this remaster but also recently caused leaks, let me tell you that Virtuous is a game development company that has supported several top-tier AAA games over the past few years. They have collaborated with Bethesda on projects like Doom Eternal, but also with other studios worldwide. Their portfolio includes titles such as Stellar Blade, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin, Sea of Thieves, and many more.
Silksong, in terms of anticipation. So, will this remaster manage to keep Elder Scrolls fans content for a while, or will it generate even more excitement for Bethesda’s upcoming project? If these other highly anticipated games do indeed release this year, there won’t be many diversions left to captivate the broader gaming community.
Fortunately, as we speak, there are numerous options to secure a copy of this remastered version. Although Bethesda is now part of Xbox Studios, it hasn’t impeded the release on other platforms. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered can be found on almost every platform now. It retails for $49.99 on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, but is also accessible for subscribers of Xbox and PC Game Pass. Surprisingly, a few Steam reviews have already surfaced, which seems premature, but these early reviews are, at this point, all positive.
