The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake could reportedly drop at any moment
There’s been chatter for quite some time about a complete overhaul of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and it seems that reliable sources are hinting at an imminent launch within this very month.
In more recent times, Skyrim has become one of the beloved games of this era, yet it was Oblivion that brought The Elder Scrolls series to unprecedented levels back in 2006. There have been whispers suggesting a complete remake of this classic RPG may be under consideration.
Initially, I had high hopes that a revelation might be made at the January Xbox Developer Direct event, but alas, when the day arrived, it was just Doom: The Dark Ages from Bethesda that graced the stage.
Currently, with anticipation building for The Elder Scrolls 6, there’s a fresh buzz in the air as gaming insider Jeff Grubb hints at its potential immediate release.
Oblivion remake releases in April 2025, according to insider
During a live discussion on Giant Bomb’s Power Block stream, Grubb hinted that the highly anticipated game might be released unexpectedly, as he was informed by reliable sources involved in the project that a “surprise launch could happen shortly.
He mentioned that there have been whispers suggesting April, and since it’s already April, he believes the release could happen any day this month.
He added that there might be an unexpected announcement about the remake, prior to its release, instead of a spontaneous launch – but he’s not aware of any news on this topic so far.

Regarding the appearance of an Oblivion remake, information that has been disclosed suggests it won’t merely be a straightforward upgrade with better graphics. Instead, it seems to offer a more substantial transformation.
According to a source who used to work at Virtuos and is reportedly involved in the project, they have revealed that it will undergo a complete overhaul using Unreal Engine 5, aiming to give it the feel of a contemporary Role-Playing Game (RPG).
In my gaming journey, I stumbled upon a post that hinted at some significant tweaks coming our way. For one, they’re planning to revamp key gameplay mechanics like stamina, sneaking, blocking, and archery. This is music to my ears! Moreover, the enemy response to attacks, an aspect that’s been under fire in both Oblivion and Skyrim, is set for an overhaul. And lastly, we can look forward to a sleeker, more modern HUD. Exciting times ahead!
Moreover, there are numerous aspects suggesting the modifications needed for contemporary compliance. If the gossip is true, we may not need to wait too long before learning the details.
