The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Feedback Suggests Fans Want it to be More Like Skyrim
Even though it’s been a week since the launch of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered,” the event still seems unreal. Lately, Bethesda has been reaching out to its fanbase for opinions on potential additional features that might be incorporated into the game. As reported by GamesRadar, Bethesda has created a new Suggestions and Feedback section on their Discord server for this purpose.
The company received a good number of replies, many from individuals who apparently hadn’t played Oblivion prior to the Remastered edition. Many of the ideas shared on this platform centered around making the Oblivion Remastered feel more like Skyrim in terms of gameplay and quality-of-life enhancements.
A variety of proposals encompass both straightforward modifications to the game such as introducing new spell varieties similar to those found in Skyrim, and suggestions for refining the user interface to mimic its design from Skyrim. One player expressed a desire to incorporate Skyrim’s combat system more extensively. Additionally, some players have requested practical improvements, such as a marker on the map signifying that the player has previously cleared the dungeon.
It’s important to mention that although Oblivion was a hit when it first came out, it was actually Skyrim, released in 2011, that truly propelled The Elder Scrolls franchise into the mainstream. Compared to its predecessor, Skyrim introduced numerous changes, and at the time, these alterations sparked some debate, particularly because they seemed to soften the role-playing game (RPG) aspects from Skyrim. For instance, the leveling system in Skyrim was redesigned by eliminating many of the specific stats that players could enhance.
Last week, Bethesda announced that work on the remastered version of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” commenced in 2021. In their social media post, they explained, “When we embarked on this project in 2021, our goal was to infuse new vitality into a chapter of ‘The Elder Scrolls’ that paved the way for many games following it. We didn’t aim to recreate it, but rather to enhance it with modern technology, allowing you to revisit the game as you remember playing it, but with an updated visual experience.
The company’s post discussed modifications made to certain gameplay elements in the remastered version of “Oblivion.” These adjustments focus on improved smoothness and balance during progression. Yet, they strive to maintain a strong connection to the original version’s essence in the remastered release.
The company announced that they’ve refined the game controllers for a more comfortable gaming experience. They’ve adjusted the level progression systems for a more seamless and balanced playthrough, ensuring each aspect received careful attention during the upgrade process. However, they emphasize that the essence of the game remains untouched, retaining its classic feel as it originates from an earlier era.
