The Devil Wears Prada 2 has already taken more money than the first movie after only 10 days

The movie The Devil Wears Prada 2 had a fantastic opening weekend, earning $233 million – the second highest of the year so far. It continued to perform well in its second weekend, and has now surpassed the total box office earnings of the first Devil Wears Prada movie.

Okay, so this new movie is crushing it! It only dropped a little bit in the US, and made another $43 million here and $75 million overseas. That brings the total to over $433 million worldwide after just ten days! Seriously, it’s already one of the biggest movies of the year – right now it’s number five, behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Project Hail Mary, Pegasus 3, and Michael. I can’t believe how well it’s doing!

So far, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has earned more money than the original Devil Wears Prada did in its entire run, exceeding $326.7 million. It was expected the sequel would do better, considering the first movie came out 20 years ago and these numbers don’t account for inflation. Still, it’s remarkable how fast it reached this milestone.

The movie has been successful in the US, but it’s really taken off internationally, earning $288 million worldwide so far. The UK and Italy have been its strongest markets, each bringing in $28 million, while Brazil has contributed $22 million and Mexico $20 million.

With the success of The Devil Wears Prada 2 at the box office, discussions about a third movie are likely to begin. Director David Frankel, who returned for the sequel, hasn’t dismissed the possibility of making another film, and says he’s learned valuable lessons from the first movie that could be applied to a third.

What to Read Next

It took us two decades to make this film, and I previously vowed to never do something like this again. But here we are, doing it again! I definitely won’t be saying ‘never again’ in the future. We’ll just have to see what happens next,” he said to Variety before the movie’s second weekend in theaters.

I’d definitely be interested in returning to the project if I had the chance to work with those amazing actors again.

I was so relieved to hear the cast feels the same way I do – they really don’t want to wait another twenty years for a continuation! Stanley Tucci actually joked about it, saying he’d be too old to participate if they waited that long, which, honestly, is a fair point and made me laugh. They definitely want to get back to it sooner rather than later, and I’m right there with them!

Anne Hathaway expressed hope for a sequel, saying, “I think there’s still a lot more story to tell.” She added that they’ll have a clearer idea of future plans once the movie is released.

Given the continued interest from fans, it’s likely we’ll see The Devil Wears Prada 3 happen, as they’re now considering a sequel.
