The Coolest Characters In Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds boasts the most compelling narrative that the series has offered to date, though it occasionally veers into the absurd. The storyline in Monster Hunter Wilds follows a group of hunters as they escort a young boy named Nata back home, and despite its occasional silliness, this core narrative is solid. Throughout their journey, they uncover the true purpose behind Nata’s quest.

Before the release of Wilds, Monster Hunter fans would typically endure the wait for the storyline to conclude before they could access the post-game content, which was where the most substantial material resided. However, Wilds presents a narrative that can captivate both newcomers and casual series enthusiasts. The characters in this game are particularly appealing and easy to support, as illustrated by some of the finest examples below.

10.

Athos

Olivia’s Favourite Felyne

In the narrative, Athos isn’t heavily involved – he mostly purrs rather than participating actively – yet his presence is comforting. Much like how a Hunter has their trusty Palico, Olivia has Athos by her side. He is her steadfast companion, assisting on hunts and adding an adorable touch throughout.

Despite bearing a scar on his right eye, hinting at past injuries, Athos consistently radiates a cheerful demeanor and takes delight in sampling various dishes from the places Olivia explores. Notably, he is often featured in scenes centered around food, indicating that food holds great importance to him. In other words, when it comes to his preferences, Athos knows where his heart lies.

9.

Zatoh

Village Guardian

Your initial encounter with Zatoh isn’t particularly friendly. Unlike Y’sai, Zatoh is wary of strangers, given his challenging upbringing. Since his people are unaware of weapons, Zatoh’s responsibilities as the village guardian primarily revolve around chasing off monsters using his Seikret and exposing himself to great peril.

After saving Zatoh, he becomes remarkably amicable, even suggesting to the village elder that they extend some Seikrets to you. Throughout the story, Zatoh acts as your guide in Kunafa. While his significance lessens after the initial chapter, his influence is palpable.

8.

Rove

Philosophical Wudwud

Among the various creatures in Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s the Wudwuds who seem most likely to challenge Palicos for the role of mascot. These creatures share a likeness with Disney’s Stitch, being adorable, toothy, and somewhat aggressive. As a group, they may not be the sharpest tools in the shed, but the individual Rove stands out as an exception, demonstrating a degree of intelligence.

Even in the face of being ensnared by a colossal spider for dinner, Rove maintains a philosophical outlook, musing eloquently about the purpose of his existence. When your group manages to save him, he displays an equal degree of composure – although he doesn’t explicitly express gratitude, he does subtly lead you forward on the right path.

7.

Erik

Compulsive Botanist

As a gamer, I can’t help but let my curiosity get the best of me, often leading Erik and our party into perilous situations. The allure of discovering exotic flora and unique creatures is too strong to resist, even though I’m fully aware that some of these wonders could be deadly. It’s a constant battle to keep myself from sampling them firsthand.

Through Olivia’s nurturing care, Erik has thus far remained alive. During an expedition where he served as a guide, a monster seized him; however, his comrades were able to rescue him. Despite his reckless nature, Erik proves invaluable due to his extensive knowledge of the plants and animals found within Monster Hunter Wilds.

6.

Nata

The Main Character

In many games with character creation, your character often serves as the avatar, but they’re typically not the central figure or protagonist. Instead, events unfold around them rather than directly involving them. Monster Hunter Rise is no exception to this rule. In this game, you control a hunter whose role is to safeguard Nata, a young character who takes center stage in the story.

Nata might appear youthful and vulnerable, yet he possesses an impressive resiliency. His tale commences with him miraculously enduring a solitary journey through the desert following an unexpected assault on his community by an enigmatic beast. Throughout the story, he functions as the main point of reference.

5.

Palico

Furry Friend

In Monster Hunter Worlds, a Palico isn’t just a fluffy sidekick; they’re your Hunter’s trusted ally in battle. They can engage monsters themselves, provide automatic healing when needed, and even escort you back to base if you’re incapacitated during combat.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, these feline fighters are surprisingly strong, as a Palico armed with an elemental weapon can swiftly reduce a monster’s health by about one-third and keep it weakened continuously during battles. However, when not in combat, they add an adorable charm to the game, offering a special button for interactive playtime within the tent.

4.

Alma

Hunter Handler

Just as a sniper performs best when they have a spotter assisting them, your Hunter will achieve greater success when accompanied by Alma. Alma serves as your guide in this role, providing you with missions and suggestions for the next steps to take.

Additionally, she possesses the ability to grant you approval for both hunting monsters and engaging in combat. This authorization is usually evident when given, but outside of these situations, her gentle and nurturing disposition endears her to Nata, making her one of his most beloved individuals.

3.

Olivia

Team Mom

Olivia may not officially belong to your team, but due to our frequent encounters with her, she functions much like a fellow team member would. The game designates her as a guildmate, and she stands out among many. Unlike Erik and Alma who are non-combatants, Olivia demonstrates impressive fighting skills on her own.

Olivia is more skilled at monster-hunting than you, frequently complimenting your abilities. She also shows a thoughtful, poetic side by reflecting on the transience of life during the early stages of the game. Whenever your team encounters Olivia, she naturally assumes the role of the leader.

2.

Hunter

It’s You

In Monster Hunter Wilds, you control the character known as The Hunter. Unlike many other games with silent protagonists, this one isn’t just an observer – it’s a character that takes action. You get to customize their appearance, voice, and walking style, but their personality is predetermined, giving them a more active role in the game.

In this game, your character, The Hunter, has a set personality with limited dialogue options, but only one that significantly influences the story. Despite these limitations, they are appealing characters due to their exceptional combat skills, unwavering loyalty as a friend, and their knack for providing insightful advice. Furthermore, they demonstrate culinary prowess, as evidenced by the delicious mealtime scenes in the game.

1.

Gemma

The Smith

Gemma’s talent for stealing the spotlight is undeniable: her design ranks among the finest ever seen in an NPC for Monster Hunter, and she also boasts a charming personality. Even though she’s just a blacksmith, she joins you on your adventures and behaves like a surrogate sister to Nata.

In my viewpoint, I excel not just in crafting weapons and armor, but also in being a great listener and the life of the party. My conversational style is modern, even among my fellow allies, and I occasionally toss in a witty Skyrim reference to lighten the mood. If there was a version of Skyrim in the Monster Hunter universe, I’d be the one playing it, that’s for sure!
