The Chosen Season 6 Release Plans & Super-Sized Finale Episode Revealed By Creator

The Chosen season 6 will be the biggest season of the series thus far.

Dallas Jenkins, the creator of The Chosen, has announced plans for season 6, including details about a longer-than-usual finale. Season 6 will focus on the final weeks of Jesus’ life, specifically what happens after Judas betrays him following the Last Supper. This season is expected to be the second to last of the series.

According to the Deseret News, creator Dallas Jenkins announced at ChosenCon in Charlotte, North Carolina, that season 6 of The Chosen will debut exclusively on Prime Video in Fall 2026. However, the season finale will be shown in movie theaters in Spring 2027. Jenkins asked fans for patience, describing season 6 as exceptionally large in scale and ambitious in its production.

The Season 6 finale is a special, extended episode that will be released as a global theatrical event.

Season 6 is our most ambitious project yet, taking significantly longer to film than any previous season. Everything from the visual effects to the translations is taking two to three times the usual amount of time.

This season is unusually long, and things are taking a bit longer than expected. I appreciate your understanding and patience – I promise the final result will be worth the wait.

For the first time since season 3, the show The Chosen won’t be released in June. Seasons 4 and 5 consistently premiered in June, first in theaters, and then on Prime Video and the The Chosen app. Additionally, this is the first time a season finale will be released so long after the rest of the season’s episodes.

Besides announcing the release details for season 6, Jenkins shared a sneak peek of an upcoming scene where Jesus’ disciples find out about his arrest. He also presented a trailer and clip for the spin-off series, The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls, which is scheduled to launch in either Summer or Fall of 2026.

Jenkins isn’t just working on one Biblical series. He’s also developing two more, focusing on the stories of Moses and Joseph of Egypt. The series about Joseph has already been filmed, and Jenkins describes it as the next major addition to the world of “The Chosen.”

We’re still working on a few details to perfect it, but it’s really shaping up nicely. We’re incredibly proud of how it’s turning out.

The stories of Joseph, his brothers, and Jacob from the Old Testament are central to the world we’re creating with ‘The Chosen.’ They’re a vital link between the Old and New Testaments within the show’s narrative.

As the series The Chosen nears its conclusion, plans are underway for its expansion. Season 7 is anticipated to be the final one, with filming scheduled to start in early Spring 2026. Season 6 will center on the final days of Jesus, offering a detailed portrayal of his crucifixion based on accounts from the New Testament.

Fans will have to wait a bit longer for season 6 of The Chosen, but the new episodes promise to be exceptionally good and could be the best of the series so far. While the show already has a large and appreciative audience, these upcoming episodes seem poised to be truly special and elevate the show even further.
