I was so excited to hear that Neale Whitaker, who really knows his stuff when it comes to property, has bought a beautiful new country home down on the NSW South Coast! It’s about 143 kilometers from Sydney, which sounds like the perfect escape.
I was so excited to hear that Darren Palmer, who I absolutely loved on The Block, bought a gorgeous vintage cottage in Berry with his partner, David Novak-Piper! Apparently, it’s a four-bedroom, two-bathroom place and they picked it up for $2.15 million. It sounds like a dream home for them!
Whitaker and Novak-Piper are local figures who recently sold a property they owned nearby.
The couple purchased the classic farmhouse in 2018 for just $1.8 million and recently sold it at auction for $4.5 million, making a significant profit.
Whitaker told The Wentworth Courier that the couple recently bought a charming, older home in the countryside, describing it as a classic weatherboard house. They’re planning to renovate it with a focus on aesthetics.
This home, constructed in 1916, is located just off Berry’s main street and last changed hands in 2013 for $825,000.
This home is well-kept and has been updated in several areas, while still retaining its original charm, like its traditional exterior.
The home features attractive details like high ceilings, beautiful Baltic pine floors, and skylights. It also boasts multiple working fireplaces and a covered deck perfect for entertaining.
I absolutely love how the dining room flows right into a bright, cheerful sunroom. And it’s so clever how they’ve included a more casual dining space right off the kitchen – it’s really cozy and perfect for everyday meals. Speaking of the kitchen, it has the most amazing antique stove, a real piece of history – it’s a Younger No. 2 fuel stove, and it just adds so much character!
The property also boasts a pool with a covered patio, along with beautifully maintained gardens that feature a peaceful retreat and a space for barbecues.
This news follows reports that the star of Love It or List It unexpectedly left the show The Block earlier in 2024.
Last season, Whitaker appeared as a judge in a limited capacity to support his partner, who was dealing with significant health issues.
Okay, so everyone knows I had to step away from The Block in 2023, and it absolutely killed me, but David, my incredible partner, was going through a really tough time with his health. I just had to be there for him, you know? It was the hardest decision, leaving the show, but family always comes first, and honestly, seeing him get better was all that mattered. I was so worried about him!
After being together for more than 20 years, the couple announced they were engaged in 2021, despite already being legally married in the UK.
In 2016, Neale shared with Yahoo Be that he was able to get married at the British Consulate General in Australia.
Same-sex marriage only became legal in Australia in December 2017.
Neale shared with Yahoo Be how deeply he valued marriage, especially as he got older, and explained this was why he supported allowing everyone to marry.
He recalled that before same-sex marriage became legal in Australia, the inability to marry felt deeply unfair.
Whitaker will next appear in Seven’s My Reno Rules.
The new show, from the makers of MasterChef, aims to compete with Channel Nine’s The Block. It will follow four teams of renovators as they transform two dilapidated houses next door to each other in Melbourne.
