The Block host Scott Cam announces shock twist ‘never done before’ in the series – as the Blockheads compete in bizarre go-kart race

The Block host Scott Cam announces shock twist 'never done before' in the series - as the Blockheads compete in bizarre go-kart race

As a seasoned follower of The Block, I must say this latest go-kart race challenge was quite the adrenaline rush! Having spent countless hours watching these contestants transform homes, it was refreshing to see them let loose and compete on a racetrack.

During a brief pause from the Living and Dining Room Week, the participants in The Block found themselves participating in an unusual go-kart racing competition instead.

Following several weeks of intensive simulated racing practice, preparing for a competition offering cash prizes for their homes, the Blockheads found themselves at the Grand Prix Circuit on Phillip Island.

But the teams weren’t there to drive against each other in supercars, as host Scott Cam explained.

In a world where I’d be living my dream, I’d be strapping myself into sleek go-karts, right next to the grandeur of the Grand Prix Circuit, on a track tailored for tamer speeds and thrills.

Mimi was one of the most excited Blockheads, claiming she was ready for a wild time.

‘I’m SO pumped! I love driving, especially when there are no rules,’ she said.

Newcomers Maddy and Charlotte, however, were not as impressed, having lots of planning to complete.

However, following numerous slides, wrecks, and unruly go-kart escapades, Ricky and Haydn, Kristian and Mimi, and Kylie and Brad emerged victorious in the competition.

The wins were calculated from each Blockhead’s fastest lap, combined with their teammate’s.

Initially, Ricky and Haydn secured the top position, pocketing a win of $5000. Subsequently, Kristian and Mimi finished in second place, receiving a prize of $3000. Lastly, Kylie and Brad took third place, earning a prize of $1000.

Just before the race, Scott Cam also delivered some very surprising, history-making news.

The host hints mysteriously, saying they’ll attempt an unprecedented action, only to unveil an exciting, fresh development instead.

For the very first time on this current season of The Block, contestant teams are granted access to a skilled painter’s expertise.

For over 20 years, team members were required to personally finish their assigned paintings, but that rule no longer applies.

Initially, Maddy and Charlotte spoke up about the bullying they encountered from other contestants during the show.

Earlier this month, the Sydney sisters stepped into the intense 20th season of the renovation contest, following Paige Beechey and Jesse Maguire’s decision to put down their tools.

The couple who were commonly referred to as the “series villains” decided to cancel their wedding in December, a move that came after rumors swirled about potential problems in their engagement.

Maddy, aged 24, and Charlotte, 22, soon became serious competitors, yet they found themselves under increased scrutiny once their past house-flipping expertise was revealed, resulting in targets being placed on their backs.

The cast accused the fan-favourite sisters of ‘lying’ about their experience level.

This most recent emotional drama, overshadowing the renovation segment within The Block series, has led some enthusiasts to consider collectively tuning out.

In last Sunday’s show, Scott Cam announced that the sisters were crowned as winners, but chaos ensued when Kylie and Brad’s team chose not to applaud.

Last week, Maddy confided in Yahoo Lifestyle that watching this current season has been challenging for her due to the way she and her sister were handled by the other contestants. She admitted that revisiting the experience has been emotionally distressing for her, using the term ‘triggering’ to describe it.

‘Sunday night’s episode made me really upset,’ Maddy told the publication.

As a die-hard fan, I found myself exclaiming, “I just can’t bear to witness this! It’s heartless how they’re treating us, and I’m struggling to fathom their reasons.
