The Batman 2 confirms major return as it gets exciting filming update
As a long-time fan of both Batman and Colin Farrell, I can hardly contain my excitement about his return as Oswald ‘The Penguin’ Cobblepot in the upcoming sequel to The Batman! Ever since his impressive portrayal in the first movie, I’ve been eagerly awaiting more of Farrell’s take on this iconic villain.
It’s been confirmed that Colin Farrell will reprise his role in “The Batman Sequel,” as director Matt Reeves announced that production on the follow-up movie is set to start next year.
At the 2021 San Diego Comic-Con, director Matt Reeves announced that actor Colin Farrell will once again play the character Oswald ‘The Penguin’ Cobblepot in the next installment of “The Batman.”
Discussing the upcoming “The Penguin” series during the SDCC panel, Reeves revealed that filming will commence the following year since Matt Reeves’ portrayal of The Penguin must reach a specific stage by then.
It appears he’s hinting at the happenings in the upcoming installments of “The Penguin” saga, which are expected to pave the way for the events depicted in “The Batman – Part II.”
To clarify, it’s been definitively established that Farrell’s character will appear in the sequel for the first time, following the conclusion of the spin-off series.
Beginning one week after the events depicted in “The Batman,” an eight-episode sequence produced by Reeves will premiere on Max in the U.S. on September 19, 2024. For viewers in the UK, this series will air on Sky Atlantic and become available for streaming on NOW towards the end of 2024.
In October 2026, the second movie featuring Robert Pattinson as Batman, known as “The Batman – Part II,” will hit theaters.
Discussing his upcoming role in the small-screen adaptation of Gotham, Farrell expressed: “Matt Reeves’ world depicted in ‘The Batman’ is so captivating that it deserves a closer look from the perspective of Oswald Cobblepot.”
I can’t express enough my eagerness to delve deeper into the journey of Oz, ascending through the shadows towards his transformation as The Penguin. It’s going to be thrilling to see him return to the chaotic streets of Gotham, stirring up a bit of madness and chaos here and there.
The Penguin will premiere on Max in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK in late 2024.
