The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Gator “Cream” Disguises a Queens Crest in Hairy Suede

The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Gator “Cream” sneakers are scheduled to release with a retail price of $130 USD. Release date and colorway details are still to be confirmed, but they will be available through ALD (Aimé Leon Dore).

Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance have released a new shoe called the Gator, continuing their successful collaboration. It’s part of the ALD Spring/Summer 2026 collection and comes in a single “Cream” color. The shoe costs $130 and is only available through Aimé Leon Dore.

The Gator lives up to its name with a tough, textured build. The upper features a combination of hairy suede and smooth nylon, creating a durable yet interesting feel. Below, a cushioned EVA midsole provides comfort, and a sturdy rubber outsole delivers reliable traction, more suited for practical work than running.

What really stands out to me is the attention to detail on these sneakers. They’ve got a cool nubuck leather “N” logo on the side, and the heel features an embossed crest – it’s a design element Aimé Leon Dore uses a lot, and it’s a nod to where Teddy Santis first started the brand back in Flushing, Queens. They finished it off with a custom tongue tag and sockliner, but it’s all really subtle and doesn’t feel over the top. It’s a really nice touch!

The Queens crest has become a signature mark of the ALD x New Balance collaboration. Since the partnership gained popularity – especially with the revival of the 550 sneaker, which Ted Santis played a key role in – the designs have consistently focused on quality materials and celebrating New York City boroughs. The new “Cream” colorway follows this pattern perfectly: it’s understated, with no flashy colors or excessive logos, relying instead on interesting textures and the story behind its origins to make a statement.
