In the spirit of the Lunar New Year celebrations, the Teamfight Tactics (TFT) Fates: Festival of Beasts Revival, often referred to as the TFT Set 4.5 Revival, is being introduced into the game. This marks a significant milestone, being five years since the initial release of the Fates: Festival of Beasts. Here’s what you need to know about the TFT Festival of Beasts Revival: details on its release date, trait updates, the Chosen set mechanic, Augments in this game mode, and more!

TFT Set 4.5 Revival release date

TFT Festival of Beasts Revival game mode launches on Jan. 23.

TFT Festival of Beasts Revival explained

In the revamped TFT Set 4.5 game mode, chase traits are introduced to intensify the thrill of reaching Prismatic verticals. For instance, when you reach the Prismatic level as a Cultist, you can summon Galio, the Endbringer. Achieving this level may require strategic thinking, but the rewards make it worthwhile. On the other hand, attaining the Prismatic Warlord level provides Azir’s formidable soldier wall. As for Mages, they benefit from casting spells more frequently with increased AP and the bonus of Fortune brings a bounty of loot.

TFT Chosen mechanic explained

In this game, when we refer to the “Chosen” mechanic, it means that every fourth shop you visit will feature a “Chosen champion.” Importantly, if you want to buy a new Chosen unit, you must first sell your existing one, regardless if it’s on the bench or playing field. When you make this purchase, a fresh Chosen champion will join your team at a 2-star level and offer a +1 boost to one of their unique abilities.

There are some rules to remember, however. They are outlined below.

  • When you see a Chosen that you’ve seen before, they will not have the same +1 trait as when you last saw them. For example, if you passed on an Enlightened Talon, the next time you’re offered a Chosen Talon, it will be an Assassin Talon.
  • When you pass on a Chosen champion, you won’t see that champion again for a few rounds.
  • There must be three copies remaining in the pool for the champ to be able to show up as a Chosen champ. However, your bag size is personal, with the number of units per cost listed below:
    • 1 cost: 25
    • 2 cost: 25
    • 3 cost: 25
    • 4 cost: 10
    • 5 cost: 9
