Tennessee’s Bitcoin Reserve Proposal

According to X (formerly Twitter, because even social media can’t escape rebranding), Tennessee’s HB1695 wants the state Treasurer to invest up to 10% of state funds in Bitcoin. Because nothing says “fiscal responsibility” like trusting a digital ledger that’s basically just a spreadsheet run by a ghost. 🧨 Secure custody protocols? Sure. Restrictions to just Bitcoin? Because why hedge against inflation when you can hedge against your own sanity?

Texas led the charge last November, becoming the first state to buy $10 million in Bitcoin. Governor Greg Abbott, who’s probably already buying a Bitcoin-shaped swimming pool, signed it into law in June 2025. Bipartisan support? Of course! Because both parties agree: Bitcoin is either the future or a very expensive distraction. 🤷

Now Tennessee’s trying to join the party, needing similar legislative scrutiny. Which is code for “hope this doesn’t blow up in our faces while we pretend to care about fiscal policy.”

Crypto Reserves In The Works

West Virginia’s also in on the action, with SB143 letting them invest 10% in Bitcoin and gold. Because if Bitcoin isn’t enough, let’s throw some shiny rocks into the mix. And Missouri? They’ve made progress, which in legislative terms means it’s out of the “idea” bin and into the “maybe we’ll remember this exists” bin. 🕒
