TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.09.01: Alisa, Dragunov and Heihachi receive changes

TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.09.01: Alisa, Dragunov and Heihachi receive changes

As a seasoned Tekken player with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the latest patch for this iconic fighting game has brought about some exciting changes. The adjustments made to Heihachi Mishima’s Ultimate Demon Basara move are particularly noteworthy, as it now allows opponents to perform a side ukemi when hit midair – a much-needed change that adds an extra layer of strategy to the match.

Here’s everything you need to know about TEKKEN 8’s Patch 1.09.01

Update on Tekken 8: The version 1.09.01 patch has been rolled out, enriching the game with fresh cosmetic items and avatar options. In terms of character balance adjustments, Alisa and Dragunov have experienced some nerfs, while Heihachi, the latest addition, has undergone some rebalancing. Let’s delve into all the details from the Tekken 8 Patch Notes 1.09.01.

Dragunov nerf headlines TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.09.01

In the TEKKEN 8 1.09.01 Update, one of the main modifications made is a reduction in power for Dragunov’s moves. The goal of the “Balance Adjustment” was to curb the effectiveness of some overly strong moves that Dragunov possesses. To accomplish this, four specific moves have been altered:

TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.09.01: Alisa, Dragunov and Heihachi receive changes

Dragunov d2 – Razer damage reduced

For Dragunov’s low swipe, the developers have applied a damage reduction from 17 to 14 damage.

Dragunov b4,3 – Tundra Slash can now be sidestepped

In a significant alteration to Dragunov’s potent double kick move, Tundra Slash no longer locks onto enemies if the initial strike fails. Additionally, the area where the second attack can hit will be reduced when the first one misses. These adjustments significantly increase the likelihood of opponents avoiding the attack entirely, making Dragunov players reconsider using the b4,3 combo.

TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.09.01: Alisa, Dragunov and Heihachi receive changes

Dragunov qcf4 – Ignition Switch no longer stuns

In future updates, opponents struck by Dragunov’s qcf4 Heat Engager won’t experience a wall stun any longer. This change implies that Ignition Switch will no longer cause a knockdown, reducing its overall effectiveness.

Dragunov H23 – Ultra Russian Sickle less likely to hit enemies behind

In simpler terms, activating the Ultra Russian Sickle by Dragunov, which is done by pressing 2 and 3 during combat, has had its attack duration decreased and the area where the third attack can reach narrowed down. This change makes it less likely for opponents standing behind you to be hit by the third strike.

Alisa adjustments – Punishing passive play

The developers have planned to streamline Alisa’s abilities, aiming to minimize safe and passive tactics she can employ. Consequently, Alisa will dish out less chip damage to her adversaries when transformed into her Destructive form.

TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.09.01: Alisa, Dragunov and Heihachi receive changes

Alisa’s Destructive Form f1+2 – Hertz Blade and Hertz Blade Aegis nerfed

Among Alisa’s most potent techniques, her F1+2 combo has undergone a significant weakening. In its aggressive state, Alisa can retaliate with damage whenever an opponent attempts to attack, by effectively blocking their moves.

With the latest update (version 1.09.01) for TEKKEN 8, the damage inflicted has been lowered from 10 to 6, and her chip damage on block during Heat has decreased from 15 to 10. Essentially, this makes it easier to launch attacks against Alisa since she’s less damaging now.

TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.09.01: Alisa, Dragunov and Heihachi receive changes

Alisa d4 nerfed – Optimizer damage reduced

Keeping in line, Optimizer (d4)’s damage has also been reduced from 15 to 12.

Alisa f2+1 – Dual Session recovery time reduced

In simpler terms, during Alisa’s Dual Session (f2+1), the time it takes for opponents to recover after being blocked has been minimally decreased. Instead of enjoying a 12-frame advantage on block with her double mid hit as before, she will now only have a 10-frame advantage in this scenario.

Heihachi receives minor nerfs in TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.09.01

In this updated version, we’ve brought back a beloved recurring figure – Heihachi Mishima. Apart from addressing any technical issues (bug fixes), we’ve made some fine-tuning to his balance (balance adjustments) to curb the excessive combo damage he inflicts during the Warrior Instinct State.

TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.09.01: Alisa, Dragunov and Heihachi receive changes

Ultimate Demon Basara – Warrior Instinct 1,b2,2

This move has been updated to allow opponents to perform a side ukemi when hit in midair.

Character Adjustment – Bug Fixes

  • Heihachi – Warrior Instinct – Ultimate Count now correctly increases when Heat Engager triggers stage gimmicks
  • Heihachi – 1 – Issue when recovery time became longer than intended when counteres by power crush has been fixed.
  • Nina – 2,3 / While Rising 3 – Issue where a transition to a throw occurred on airborne kick has been corrected.
  • Devil Jin – During Rage df12 – Issue in which the round timer progresses during Rage Art animation on hitting Heihachi has been fixed.
  • Common – Heat Burst – Certain inputs can no longer be performed after K.O.
  • Common – Special Style – Issue with tracking for some attacks has been fixed

Ranked Matchmaking changes, Battle UI updates

The system for finding opponents in ranked and quick matches has been revised to prioritize ping-based matching more effectively. Earlier, when a suitable opponent couldn’t be found, the game would expand its search parameters to try again. However, in case a match still isn’t found now, the search won’t extend beyond its current range.

For the Battle UI, updates have been made to make the health status and heat time easier to use. Once enabled, the game now ensures that important HUD elements can not be blocked by the game characters. To turn this on players can do the following:

  • OPTIONS > Screen Settings > HUD Display in Foreground.
