Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt enjoy a break from filming season four as they watch Chelsea’s first leg defeat to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge

Filming is already happening for the fourth season of Ted Lasso, but surprisingly, the show’s main character, Ted Lasso, might actually need some advice on how to coach the Richmond football club.

It definitely appeared so, with actors Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt watching Chelsea lose to Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Jason, like many Hollywood stars who are friends with owner Todd Boehly, was spotted at Stamford Bridge watching Chelsea lose 3-2 in the first leg of their semi-final match.

During the game, Jason was spotted talking with Brendan, the actor who plays Coach Beard on the Apple TV+ show.

As a Chelsea supporter, I was really looking forward to Tuesday’s game – it was Liam Rosenior’s first match in charge at Stamford Bridge! We’d all been buzzing after the FA Cup win on Saturday, but sadly, that good feeling didn’t last long. Ben White scored for the opposition really early on, in the seventh minute, and just completely took the wind out of our sails.

I was on the edge of my seat during that first leg, and even though they put up a good fight, Arsenal won 3-2. Everyone’s talking about Arsenal potentially winning the Premier League in May, and honestly, I think they’re going to have a really tough time in the second leg when they play away at The Emirates on February 3rd. It’s going to be a huge challenge for them!

Production on the fourth season of Ted Lasso began late last year, much to the delight of fans who had expected the show to end after its third season aired in 2023.

Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Brendan, Jeremy Swift, and Juno Temple are all returning for another season. Joining them will be Tanya Reynolds, known for her role in Sex Education, and Faye Marsay, who starred in Adolescence.

Jude Mack, Abbie Hern, Grant Feely, Rex Hayes, and Aisling Sharkey will also be making an appearance.

This season, Ted Lasso is back in Richmond, but with a new and demanding job: he’s now the coach of a women’s football team playing in the second division.

Over the season, Ted and his team start taking risks and acting impulsively, doing things they previously wouldn’t have considered.

Jason announced on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce that Ted Lasso would be returning for a fourth season, four months ago.

‘Ted’s coaching a women’s team, so there, that’s it,’ the actor teased.

Jason Sudeikis played Ted Lasso, an American football coach who became a soccer coach, and led the fictional AFC Richmond team for the show’s first three seasons.

After Jason Sudeikis shared some news about season four, I got a lot of questions – the biggest one being whether that meant Ted Lasso would finally be heading back home to the States. It’s a natural question, of course, and everyone’s eager to know what’s next for him!

Jason laughed and said there were too many questions, then admitted he didn’t know the answer either.

Jason added that coming up with a new season was both ‘exciting’ and ‘daunting.’

He explained they were happy with how the story turned out, but acknowledged there’s more to the project, and that the team was a pleasure to work with.
