will finally return after seven years, stronger than ever. So, will it feature a Taylor Swift song?
A recent countdown on Taylor Swift’s website featured a blue background reminiscent of the cloud wallpaper from the movie. In a new interview, the film’s directors and McKenna “Kenna” Harris addressed the widely circulated fan theory that Swift contributed a song to the film’s soundtrack.
Taylor Swift Is Not on Toy Story 5’s Soundtrack
I’m so excited to see my favorite artist contributing to film again! They’ve already had songs in some huge movies – remember The Hunger Games back in 2012, and more recently Where the Crawdads Sing? Even though Cats wasn’t a hit with everyone, it’s still cool to see their music featured in so many different projects.
The directors and producer, Lindsey Collins, collectively stated they had watched the film and were genuinely surprised by it, admitting they hadn’t seen it previously. They expressed being incredibly honored by the experience.
Stanton explained that they had seen a rough cut of the movie last week, and the song playing at the end wasn’t a Taylor Swift track.
The movie arrives in theaters on June 19th, and while there’s a small chance of a song at the end, the directors don’t seem to think it will happen.
Taylor Swift’s dedicated fans, known as Swifties, are always on the lookout for hidden clues, or ‘Easter eggs.’ Recently, a countdown they discovered didn’t lead to anything new. With two albums – her self-titled debut from 2006 and 2017’s Reputation – still to be re-recorded, fans are eager for updates. Since she hasn’t announced any projects after her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, and with her upcoming wedding to Travis Kelce, it seems more likely she’ll release a song for a movie soundtrack rather than a full new album.
Although Taylor Swift isn’t involved in making the new animated movie, it’s probably not going to happen. But even without her, the upcoming Toy Story 5 promises to be full of exciting surprises.
Toy Story 5 Grows the Universe With More Original Characters
Beloved characters like Woody, voiced by Tom Hanks, are returning for Toy Story 5, along with fan favorites such as Jessie (Joan Cusack), Forky (Tony Hale), and Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves). The movie will also feature a whole new cast of characters.
The movie boasts a great cast, including Conan O’Brien and Greta Lee. With so many stars already involved, there’s hope Taylor Swift might contribute a song, either new or from her existing catalog. Even if she doesn’t, the music is in good hands with Randy Newman, the composer of previous films in the series, returning to create the score.
Toy Story 5 premieres in theaters on June 19.
