Taylor Swift is putting her cowboy boots back on.
The singer revealed her new song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” will be available this Friday on the soundtrack for “Toy Story 5,” which comes out in theaters on June 19th. She shared on Instagram that she wrote the song immediately after seeing an early screening of the movie.
Taylor Swift shared that she’s always wanted to write stories about the characters she’s loved since seeing the original Toy Story as a child. She said she immediately connected with Toy Story 5 after getting a sneak peek, and knew it was something special. “Sometimes you just know,” she added.
Bad Bunny is joining the cast of “Toy Story 5” and will voice a new character – a pizza-shaped toy that wears sunglasses, named Pizza with Sunglasses. This is the first time the singer will be doing voice work for a film.
Taylor Swift has been hinting at her involvement in “Toy Story 5” by putting up billboards in cities like Chicago, Toronto, and Austin. These billboards simply display “TS,” representing both her initials and the film’s title, along with 13 cartoon clouds – a reference to her favorite number. On Monday, her website launched a countdown timer accompanied by images of a ranch house, one of the “TS” billboards, and the “Toy Story” character Jessie.
Disney announced that Taylor Swift’s new song takes inspiration from Jessie, the cowgirl character who debuted in the 1999 film “Toy Story 2.” The song will sound similar to Swift’s earlier country music.
Disney noted that ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ represents a return to Taylor Swift’s country music origins, combining elements that have become hallmarks of her incredibly successful songwriting and artistry.
