Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone Spinoff Delivers Worst RT Score For The Western Franchise

The world of Yellowstone is growing, with the new series Marshals set to add a fresh chapter to the story. While the show, which centers on Kayce Dutton, premieres on March 1st, early reviews on Rotten Tomatoes suggest what viewers can anticipate.

Now that the Yellowstone ranch is behind him, Kayce (Luke Grimes) puts his experience as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to work with a special team of U.S. Marshals, bringing law and order to Montana. He’s joined by Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos), and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means) as they all try to manage their personal lives while facing constant threats to the region.

Everyone’s talking about the new series, Marshals, and its initial Rotten Tomatoes score has people eagerly awaiting its March 1st debut on Paramount+. Currently at 60%, this is the lowest score any installment in the franchise has ever received.

1883 89%
1923 94%
Yellowstone 83%
Marshals 60%

Kayce’s journey in Yellowstone was filled with hardship, intense events, and the challenges of balancing family life with his dedication to upholding the law. The passing of his father, John III (Kevin Costner), created new opportunities and a different path forward for Kayce and his loved ones.

As a huge fan of Westerns, I have to say Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone has been a total game-changer. It’s not just a hit show, it’s become a massive franchise—we’re talking over $3 billion! What’s really amazing is how it’s brought the Western genre back to life. And with prequels like 1883 and 1923, Sheridan consistently draws in huge audiences—we’re talking record-breaking numbers when each new series starts. It’s incredible to watch!

Taylor Sheridan, the creator of hit shows, is leaving Paramount after disagreements with its new management. He’s signed a five-year contract with NBCUniversal starting in 2029, potentially worth up to $1 billion. While he’s moving forward with NBCUniversal, his current series, including Marshals and Landman, will continue to be available on Paramount+.

Marshals will premiere on Paramount+ on March 1.
