Another major villain is set to arrive before Mayor of Kingstown goes off the air.
Created by Taylor Sheridan (known for Yellowstone and Landman), the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown centers on Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) and his efforts to maintain order in a Michigan town heavily involved in the prison system. The show will conclude with its upcoming fifth season, which will consist of eight episodes – a shorter run than the ten episodes in season 4, and the three seasons before that.
According to Variety, Nestor Carbonell, known for his role in Lost, is joining season 5 of Mayor of Kingstown. He’ll play Enrique Molina, a character described as a powerful figure who arrives in Kingstown seeking justice for a missing family member. Carbonell joins returning cast members Jeremy Renner, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Laura Benanti, Derek Webster, Necar Zadegan, Lennie James, Hugh Dillon (who also co-created the show), Nichole Galicia, and Edie Falco. David Morse is also new to the series this season, playing FBI agent Russell Hardy. Production is currently underway in Pittsburgh.
As of now, it’s unknown whether the missing person related to Enrique Molina is someone we’ve already seen on Mayor of Kingstown. Currently, no characters with the last name Molina have appeared in the show.
David Carbonell’s part in season 5 of Mayor of Kingstown is just the latest success in a career filled with appearances in popular TV shows. He’s been consistently working in hit series since the early days, even before becoming well-known on the 1996 sitcom Suddenly Susan. He previously had roles in shows like Melrose Place, Law & Order, and A Different World, and has continued to take on significant parts in other successful series ever since.
Carbonell is best known for his role as Richard Alpert on the TV series Lost, appearing in 39 episodes. He’s also had significant roles as Sheriff Alex Romero in the Psycho prequel Bates Motel, weatherman Yanko Flores on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show, and pilot Vasco Rodrigues in FX’s historical drama Shōgun, for which he recently won an Emmy Award.
Having played many different roles in successful TV shows, Carbonell is well-prepared to portray this new villain in the Taylor Sheridan series. This isn’t his first time playing a bad guy; he recently appeared as a villain in the horror-comedy sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.
Enrique Molina’s role will be closely watched, as he’s one of the few new faces joining the final season of Mayor of Kingstown. Season 5 appears to be introducing fewer new characters compared to Season 4, which featured 10 recurring characters alongside the main cast additions of Laura Benanti, Lennie James, and Edie Falco. It’s crucial that he portrays his character in a believable way.
