Taylor Sheridan is directing a new movie – his first time doing so in five years. But, if you don’t live near San Antonio, seeing it might be difficult.
Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick announced that filmmaker Sheridan will direct a new film for the Alamo Visitor Center and Museum in San Antonio. The museum is preparing to offer a cutting-edge, immersive experience with a state-of-the-art 4D theater. The film, created exclusively for the museum, will use special effects, sound, and physical sensations to bring the story of the Battle of the Alamo to life.
Patrick stated that as soon as he saw the theater’s plans, he knew Taylor Sheridan was the only person to bring this film to life for the Alamo Museum. He highlighted Sheridan’s unique ability to capture the essence of the American West – its people, landscapes, and history – over the past ten years. Patrick also noted that Sheridan, as a native Texan, has a deep understanding and appreciation for the state and its heritage.
I contacted Taylor and asked if he’d be interested in directing a film about the Alamo, a really important historical project. Even though he was incredibly busy, he immediately and happily agreed.
Sheridan explained that the Alamo is fundamental to Texas history. He said he was honored to document the story of the courageous individuals who died defending it.
