Taylor Frankie Paul is distancing herself from the Mormon church following the domestic violence controversy that caused her season of The Bachelorette to be canceled before it even aired.
In a recent post on Instagram Stories, 31-year-old Paul shared that she grew up Mormon (LDS) and will always cherish her upbringing, but she’s now decided to move away from the religion.
The reality TV personality, originally from Pueblo, Colorado, stated she’ll still join her family for religious gatherings occasionally, but is also making personal choices that reflect her evolving beliefs and what she’s learned in life.
She expressed a deep faith in Christ, God, and the Bible, emphasizing the power of divine love. She believes that God’s love is unconditional, reaching people no matter where they are or how they pray – whether in church or even at home in a difficult moment.
I’ve also felt kindness and support from wonderful people who aren’t even sure about their beliefs, and that’s perfectly fine. My main point is that there’s always more to discover, and I’m writing this to help me process my thoughts and feelings.
Daily Mail has reached out to a representative for Paul for further comment on the story.
Paul shared on Instagram Sunday that she’s been finding strength in her faith during this challenging period.
Paul described the past 40 days as incredibly difficult, saying it felt like a living nightmare. He explained that during each panic attack, he desperately prayed for strength as his body felt like it was falling apart from the overwhelming stress.
She mentioned finding spiritual strength in her faith – specifically, inspiration from Jesus – which helped her keep going during a difficult time.
Paul explained that God repeatedly showed his support through clear signs, assuring people, “I am with you,” and he was eager to share those instances.
Paul said she’s made her best effort to remain full of faith and gratitude since she was a child.
Paul explained that he’s been praying since childhood and always felt God encouraged people to seek help, particularly when things are difficult. But instead of simply asking for help, Paul started focusing on gratitude, making it a habit to thank God each day, even when he was feeling down.
According to a TMZ article published on March 19th, Paul reportedly assaulted her ex-boyfriend, 33-year-old Dakota Mortensen, while their young daughter was nearby.
A shocking moment in the footage caused ABC to immediately cancel Paul’s show right before it was supposed to begin airing, but she still received full payment.
Following the recent release of a video, Disney Entertainment Television has decided to postpone the new season of The Bachelorette. Their priority right now is providing support to the affected family.
Recently released body camera footage from Paul’s 2023 arrest reveals her ex-boyfriend, Mortensen, actually asked police to arrest him instead of her.
A TMZ video published on March 23rd shows Paul and Mortensen arguing just as police arrived at the door.
Police separated the two as an aggressive Paul tried to pour herself a water and began crying.
Mortensen told the officers who arrived that Paul was struggling and briefly described the abuse he claimed she inflicted on him.
Mortensen said he’d experienced so much trauma he couldn’t fully describe it, and displayed injuries he alleged were caused by Paul.
At that point, Paul re-emerged, and told Mortensen to leave immediately.
When Paul was arrested, Mortensen offered to take her place in jail, explaining she simply wanted Paul to receive the help she felt was needed.
In February 2023, Paul was involved in an incident that led to a guilty plea for aggravated assault in August 2023. As part of a legal agreement, four other charges against him were dismissed. He is currently on probation, which is scheduled to end in August 2026.
