ITV is bringing back the classic British detective series Dalziel and Pascoe with a fresh take: the lead roles, traditionally played by male actors, will now be filled by Kerry Godliman, known from Taskmaster, and Nina Singh, of The Lazarus Project.
Godliman will star as Detective Inspector Andrea Dalziel, a veteran investigator. She’ll be working alongside Detective Sergeant Paige Pascoe, played by Singh, who is a recently qualified officer known for strictly following the rules.
Though they approach investigations differently, Dalziel and Pascoe are a powerful team, and their partnership is built on humor, warmth, and understanding.

The series, called a “fresh and contemporary reimagining” of the original, was first announced in January. ITV and Britbox, the networks involved, have kept details about who will star a secret.
I was a huge fan of the Dalziel and Pascoe mysteries! They were based on Reginald Hill’s books and ran for twelve seasons, starting in 1996 and going all the way to 2007. Warren Clarke and Colin Buchanan were just perfect as the two detectives.

I’m really excited to be playing Detective Inspector Andrea Dalziel! She’s got this awesome mix of being confident and totally charming, and I can’t wait to bring her to life.
This role is really appealing because the character is so complex and fascinating. She’s successful and kind, but also very straightforward – sometimes even a little harsh. She’s a bit world-weary but ultimately has a good heart, and I’m excited to explore all those layers.
Singh, who stars alongside her, said he’s thrilled to be playing Pascoe to Kerry Godliman’s Dalziel. He added that he finds Godliman very funny and anticipates having trouble keeping a straight face while working with her.

Colette Kane and her team have skillfully blended humor into the scripts while still maintaining the suspense and unpredictable twists that fans expect from the Dalziel and Pascoe series.
Filming for the new series, Dalziel and Pascoe, will start in the spring of 2026 in Northern England. Viewers can watch it on ITV and STV, as well as stream it on ITVX and STV Player.
The six-part series will be directed by Isher Sahota and produced by Juliet Charlesworth. It’s based on a new story co-created by Vera writer Colette Kane and Daisy Martey, who also worked on Vikings: Valhalla.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-colour magazine celebrating Taylor Swift, is now available! You can find it at newsagents or order it online for only £8.99. This special edition spans 100 pages and is dedicated to Taylor Swift.
