The person in charge of the Hollywood sign says a video of Sydney Sweeney adorning it with bras was created using computer-generated imagery (CGI).
Last week, a video of the Euphoria actress hanging underwear on a famous landmark quickly spread online. The video was recorded without her consent.
Jeff Zarrinnam, who leads the Hollywood Sign Trust, believes some of the video has been digitally manipulated.
Sydney, age 28, shared the video on Instagram. Zarrinnam believes the final image – showing the actress posing with the bra-covered sign – was likely created using CGI. He explains that climbing the 50-foot sign in the dark would be extremely difficult and risky.
He explained to BBC Newsbeat that the scene used computer-generated imagery (CGI). He said it would have been impossible to physically cover the sign in the time shown on screen, estimating it would take hours to do so.
Zarrinnam clarified that reports claiming Sydney is seen climbing the letter ‘H’ in the video are inaccurate.
He recognized the sign immediately. He remembered a woman once trying to climb the letter ‘L’ on it, and figured if she’d attempted the ‘H’, she likely would have fallen and been seriously injured.
The actress known as Christy could be charged with a crime for the publicity stunt she did to promote her lingerie brand, Syrn. Investigator Zarrinnam is looking into the incident, but hasn’t received a response from Christy or her team yet.
As a longtime follower of Zarrinnam, I understand he’s taking the potential charges against Sydney very seriously. He’s personally deciding whether to move forward, but he wants to be completely sure he understands everything that happened before making any final decisions. He’s really taking ownership of this and wants to do what’s right.
He was frustrated, and so were the neighbors. He felt it was important to make sure everyone knew this behavior wouldn’t be tolerated.
Zarrinnam stated he’s boosting security around the sign due to the recent attention it received.
Last week, Sydney posted a video on Instagram showing her and her team filling a van with lingerie and heading into the Hollywood Hills.
I watched, completely captivated, as Sydney, looking effortlessly cool in all black, took the lead. She moved with a grin, guiding us as we scrambled over the eight-foot fence and then up the hill towards that iconic sign. It felt like the start of something amazing.
Holding torches, the actress exclaimed, “We’re going to get caught if we keep this up!” as she scaled the 45-foot-tall letters, hanging bras across them. She then smiled and posed for pictures in front of the lingerie-covered sign.
The video concludes with the logo for SYRN, a new brand launching on Wednesday with funding from Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos.
Although the actor reportedly had a permit to film, authorities suggest it might not have covered the specific activity shown in the video.
The Hollywood Sign is on public land, but access is limited. The non-profit Hollywood Sign Trust, which maintains the sign, doesn’t allow climbing on it, according to their website.
The area is generally monitored by the Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments, along with park rangers, to prevent visitors from entering. Security cameras and motion sensors also help keep the site safe.
Entering this property without permission is illegal and could lead to a misdemeanor. Penalties include fines up to $1,000 or a jail sentence of up to six months.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce might report the incident to the police as trespassing or vandalism, but they are currently looking into what happened.

After the photoshoot finished, the bras were taken away, although some were said to have been left on the hill.
