Supergirl Fights Off Alien Raiders & Protects Young Girl In New Footage For James Gunn’s Next DC Movie

I’m so excited! It feels like summer – and the Supergirl movie – is almost here! We just got a big update about how it fits into the new DC Universe, which is awesome.

CinemaCon 2026 is underway, and today’s focus is on Warner Bros. Discovery. At the event in Las Vegas, DC Studios is highlighting its upcoming film, Supergirl, with ScreenRant reporting live from the scene. The presentation featured actress Milly Alcock, Jason Momoa, and director Craig Gillespie, who shared additional footage from the new DC Universe film.

Supergirl is in the desert when a spaceship lands nearby. She disguises herself with glasses. The ship then launches into space, but not before one of the aliens on board gets sick. The ship is filled with a diverse group of alien creatures, reminiscent of a bustling cantina. Supergirl begins talking to the aliens around her and quickly steps in to protect a young girl, Ruthye, from another alien. It’s revealed that Supergirl and Ruthye already know each other, and Supergirl wonders why Ruthye isn’t with Krypto. Suddenly, a larger spaceship overtakes and takes control of their ship. Villains beam aboard, and Supergirl identifies them as civilian raiders who are after the ship’s resources and the passengers’ belongings. Ruthye pulls out a sword, preparing for a fight. The raiders demand Supergirl’s watch, and she calmly hands it over, placing it in their bag.

Supergirl demands the thieves return the sword, but they escape with it, frustrating her. She vows to get it back and immediately begins fighting them, with Ruthye assisting. The chaotic fight causes accidental damage, as Supergirl crashes into various parts of the ship and even bumps into passengers. She urgently asks the pilot for their location and if they can land sooner. Needing a spacesuit, she grabs one and is unexpectedly pulled into space by the raiders. Drifting helplessly, accompanied by mournful music, Supergirl is watched by Ruthye and the other passengers. The pilot laments his bad luck, while Ruthye looks distressed. Suddenly, Supergirl reveals a determined smile and begins destroying the spider robots that are attacking the ship. However, she’s hit by a laser and sent hurtling further into space, eventually flying towards the sun. The larger ship pursues her, but Supergirl bravely confronts it, matching its laser fire with her own heat vision. She ultimately defeats the ship, disabling its power source.

The scene quickly cuts between Supergirl speaking with the raiders and images of different alien worlds. Ruthye expresses her surprise at seeing them alive and asks about Superman. Supergirl describes him as a kind-hearted but naive person, while she claims to be more realistic. Superman then appears and cheerfully waves to the audience. Fast-paced action sequences follow, including a brief shot of Lobo who recognizes Supergirl from a bar. The scene culminates with Supergirl defending a young girl in a fight, before the show’s logo is displayed.

Supergirl is slated to arrive in theaters on June 26.
