Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Studio Rocksteady Reportedly Suffers Layoffs Following Game’s Poor Performance
As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must confess that the recent news about Rocksteady Studios and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League leaves me feeling more like a member of the Justice League themselves – left to pick up the pieces after a catastrophic event.
After the relatively poor reception of “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” by Rocksteady Studios, it seems that there has been a round of layoffs, particularly affecting the Quality Assurance (QA) team, which has seen nearly half of its workforce let go.
As a devoted fan, I’m sharing some news that has left me a bit concerned: Eurogamer reports that Rocksteady Studios, known for their exceptional work, has undergone a significant change within their Quality Assurance (QA) division. Originally employing 33 team members, this division has been reduced to only 15, with the struggling sales of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League being cited as the primary cause. This “restructuring,” as they’ve called it, seems to have extended beyond the QA department, with senior management at Rocksteady acknowledging that these layoffs will inevitably impact the quality of their future products.
As a gamer reporting on recent developments, I can’t help but feel the impact when both veteran and newcomer team members are hit by job losses. One colleague shared his personal experience, being let go during his paternity leave. The situation at Rocksteady is also concerning, as anonymous sources reveal that the reduced QA staff will now shoulder an overwhelming workload, following the studio’s staff reduction.
The video game “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” released in February for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, fell short of its projected revenue by approximately $200 million for the parent company Warner Bros. Discovery. In July, Rocksteady continued with “Season 2,” introducing Mrs. Freeze into the game, but it remains unclear what plans are in store for the game’s future.
