Stitch Announces Brand-New Disney Series Following Hollywood’s 2025 Blockbuster

Following the huge success of the 2025 live-action Lilo & Stitch movie, Disney is quickly building on that momentum with a new series of comic books. These comics will once again feature Stitch as the main character, expanding the story beyond the film.

Dynamite Entertainment announced a new comic book series, Lilo & Stitch 626, at the ComicsPRO event in Glendale. They also revealed plans for more Stitchrelated projects coming in May 2026. According to Bleeding Cool, these releases are part of a larger strategy to make 2026 a major year for the character known as Experiment 626*.

A New Chapter for Experiment 626

The new Lilo & Stitch 626 series will show more of the characters beyond just Stitch and his usual adventures. Instead of focusing only on wild, space-based action, the show will tell stories centered around the characters we already know, revealing new sides to them.

Daniel Kibblesmith and George Kambadais are writing a new series with art by Elisa Pochetta. Each issue will feature two separate stories: a funny look at how Agent Cobra Bubbles first became who he is, told from Lilo’s point of view, and a standalone adventure with Captain Gantu taking place on an alien planet that feels like the Old West.

The show strikes a fun balance between touching family moments and over-the-top sci-fi action. It seems built to strengthen the emotional connections that fans loved in the original, all while keeping the wild, unpredictable spirit of Stitch alive.

Expanding the Stitch Universe in 2026

This new comic series is just one piece of a bigger project from Dynamite. Writer Jeff Parker is also creating an original graphic novel called The Book of Stitch: Top Secret Adventures, which is presented as Stitch’s personal journal. In a fun twist, the story is told as if it were written by Lilo and illustrated in a messy, energetic style by Stitch himself.

The Stitch comic is still going strong with new storylines. Currently, Stitch is on a wild adventure, traveling to a planet full of dogs! As you might expect, things quickly become chaotic when he arrives, perfectly capturing the series’ mix of heartwarming moments and playful trouble.

Dynamite is going all-in on the launch with exclusive comics for Free Comic Book Day and collectible variant covers, showing how important this release is to them. They’ve carefully planned the May 2026 release date, and with June 26th – known as “626 Day” – approaching, the strategy cleverly blends a celebration of the past with a vision for the future.

These recent announcements represent the biggest expansion of the Lilo & Stitch universe in years. Instead of just capitalizing on the success of the movie, Disney and its collaborators are creating a foundation for ongoing, new stories. Both dedicated fans and new audiences can expect the next chapter of Experiment 626’s adventures to be larger and more exciting than ever before.
