Steven Spielberg’s new sci-fi thriller, Disclosure Day, will now be released in the UK earlier than originally planned. It was previously scheduled for June 12th, but will now hit UK cinemas on Wednesday, June 10th.
Featuring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo, Disclosure Day is inspired by a story from Steven Spielberg, and the screenplay was written by David Koepp, who also wrote Jurassic Park.
Imagine finding out we aren’t the only ones in the universe, and someone actually showed you undeniable proof. Would that scare you? This summer, the world will learn the truth – a truth that affects all seven billion of us. We’re nearing the moment of… Disclosure Day.

We’ve seen a couple of trailers, but honestly, the movie’s been super mysterious! A lot of fans, myself included, are starting to think it might actually be a secret sequel to Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind from 1977. It’s a wild theory, but it makes sense with what little we do know!
In an interview with the Associated Press, actor O’Connor, who plays cybersecurity expert Daniel Kellner in the new film, hinted that it builds on ideas first introduced in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and may provide answers to questions raised by that movie.

The actor explained that the script was delivered with a lot of security. He received it while filming Knives Out 3, and it was brought to his hotel by motorbike. The next morning, another motorbike came to collect it.

This is a first for me, and it’s really unusual, but it actually makes perfect sense. Whenever Steven announces a new film, everyone – including me – is eager to find out what it’s about, so I get why this is happening.
O’Connor hinted at what the movie holds, calling it “the greatest Steven Spielberg story ever.” He also revealed that the character Daniel has unique abilities, but hesitated to elaborate, feeling that focusing too much on those powers might overshadow the character himself.
Disclosure Day is released in UK cinemas on Wednesday 10 June.
