Steve-O cancels plans to get breast implants for comedy sketch after talking to a transgender person: 'It's not all fun and games'

As someone who has spent my fair share of time laughing at the outrageous stunts performed by Steve-O, it’s eye-opening to see him face a reality check. His latest stunt involving breast implants was meant for humor, but his encounter with a transgender individual made him rethink the impact of his actions.

Globally recognized for his knack of attempting almost any humor stunt, Steve-O has recently abandoned his recent daredevil act.

As a lifestyle advisor, I can share that, in preparation for my upcoming tour, “The Super Dummy Tour,” I was about to undergo a surgical procedure to temporarily enhance my appearance with breast implants – all part of an intriguing hidden camera sketch I had been meticulously planning. Steve-O, aged 50 (whose real name is Stephen Gilchrist Glover), aimed to transform his appearance into that of a woman, intending to deceive unsuspecting groups of men on the street.

The individual, who had a harrowing experience involving being attached to shark bait in the Gulf of Mexico, stated that he came extremely close to undergoing surgery just 10 hours prior. Originally scheduled for eight o’clock in the morning.

It seems that the anesthesiologist became nervous when he discovered it was for a trick, and as a result, he changed his mind and withdrew the day before.

I mentioned, “This seemingly sparked a series of events, as the medical professional found themselves distancing from the situation, and locating an alternative surgical facility became quite challenging.

At that juncture, the comedian continued to plan his stunt for further progression, but the next day, he encountered a transgender individual in a grocery store.

In the course of our regular shopping excursion, I confided in the store attendant about my ambitious plan – undergoing breast augmentation surgery – seeking their perspective on this personal decision.

One of his ideas was for Steve-O to have the implants, shave his body hair, and then remove his tattoos so that he could attend a motorcycle rally and flirt with men, only to take off his helmet and reveal he’s actually a guy.

Steve-O made it clear that he understood his purpose and goal, and he assured everyone it wasn’t to cause harm to anyone. Instead, he was simply aiming for laughter.

During the demonstration of support from several transgender individuals, the performer acknowledged that the response would likely have been a mix of reactions.

The cashier at the supermarket seemed to believe that Steve-O intentionally misled others into assuming he was a woman, and in doing so, appeared to endorse a negative attitude towards transgender individuals – which is certainly not acceptable.

The employee vividly depicted a situation transgender individuals often encounter when using the workplace bathroom, and it was alarming to learn about approximately 28 states where they could be arrested for having an ID showing ‘female’ gender. Politicians were found to be actively trying to imprison them in detention centers. It was truly heart-wrenching to hear such tales of oppression.

When hearing these kinds of stories Steve-O decided to scrap the stunt to get breast implants.

He admitted that he had viewed the situation from a different perspective, one that made him realize it wasn’t just lighthearted amusement, particularly the practical jokes.

Over the years, a person born in London, England but also raised in Canada and the U.S., has showcased his stunt skills, performing in the series Jackass from 2000 to 2001, and its related films such as “Jackass: The Movie” (2002), “Jackass Number Two” (2006), “Jackass 3D” (2010), and the latest “Jackass Forever” (2023). Additionally, this person appeared in its spin-off series “Wildboyz” from 2003 to 2006, as well as “Dr. Steve-O” in 2007.

Steve-O is engaged to stylist Lux Wright, who he proposed to in 2018.

This autumn, the comedian and daredevil has been thrilling audiences at various theaters across the United States with his Super Dummy Tour performance.
