Stablecoins to Swallow $3.7 Trillion—Blockchain’s Wild Party by 2030!
Imagine a world where U.S. dollar stablecoins balloon to $3.7 trillion, turning the stodgy old finance circus into a glittering blockchain extravaganza by 2030. Citi bets their crystal ball on it.
US Dollar Stablecoins Set to Dominate Amid Global Blockchain Frenzy, Says Citi
The oracles at Citi’s Global Perspectives and Solutions division have just released their prophecy, titled “Digital Dollars—Banks and Public Sector Drive Blockchain Adoption.” Spoiler alert: it’s bullish enough to make any skeptic clutch their wallet tighter. They foresee a tsunami of blockchain and stablecoins sweeping through global markets by decade’s end.
“By 2030, stablecoins could swell to $1.6 trillion in a sensible scenario, or rocket to $3.7 trillion if the crypto stars align perfectly.”
Of course, if blockchains trip over their own virtual feet or governments decide to throw wrenches, the fantasy shrinks somewhat to a modest half a trillion. But hey, who doesn’t love a good gamble?
In the grand currency pageant, the U.S. dollar-backed stablecoins are expected to keep their crown—holding about 90% of the throne—while non-U.S. contenders profess their national pride with CBDCs, like Europe and China nervously waving their digital flags in the crowd.
“The stablecoin supply will remain U.S.-dollar denominated (approx. 90%), with non-U.S. countries promoting national currency CBDCs.”
So, while the world waits with bated breath to see if blockchain’s shiny promises are more than just smoke and mirrors, Citi’s scribes remain confident: stablecoins and blockchain are gearing up for a global financial makeover. Whether it will be a grand ball or a chaotic masquerade remains to be seen. Either way, popcorn is recommended 🍿.
