Square Enix has announced a brand new Octopath Traveler RPG, much to the delight of fans! The series began in 2018 with the original game and has since expanded with several sequels and a mobile game. These previous releases laid the groundwork for this latest installment. While Octopath Traveler 0, released in 2025, received some mixed reactions, the series remains a fan favorite within Square Enix’s collection of games.
A new game in the Octopath Traveler series is coming soon! As reported by Game Informer, a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) based on the popular video game will be released in October. While the Octopath Traveler TRPG has been available in Japan since February 2022, it’s now being translated into English for players in Western markets.

As a long-time fan, I’m thrilled to see the world of Octopath Traveler expanding beyond video games! The Octopath Traveler TRPG Rulebook is coming out October 6th, and it’s a hefty 328-page hardcover – a really impressive package. Basically, it lets you and your friends create your own parties and adventure through the land of Orsterra, just like in the games. The system itself is built around rolling 2d6, and it beautifully incorporates everything we love about the Octopath Traveler universe – the unique jobs, iconic characters, and memorable locations are all there. It feels like a natural extension of the franchise, and I can’t wait to dive in.
The Octopath Traveler tabletop role-playing game (TRPG) is set within the established world of Octopath Traveler – including both the original game and the mobile title, Champions of the Realm. This opens up a wide range of possibilities for your campaign. You can create a completely new character to experience the adventure, or play as one of the beloved heroes from Octopath Traveler, such as Therion or Primrose.

Octopath Traveler TRPG Is In Good Hands
A particularly exciting part of this news is that the Octopath Traveler TRPG Rulebook is coming to Western audiences thanks to a partnership with Dark Horse. Dark Horse is famous for its comics and game books, and they have experience adapting video games into tabletop games, like the recent one for Cyberpunk 2077.
