Summary
- The expansion marks the first time an official Square Enix cafe with a full authentic menu will operate in the United States
- The Shinjuku flagship occupies a multi-level footprint spanning the first three floors of the PASELABO TOWER
- Both permanent locations feature integrated retail zones carrying a wide selection of official merchandise alongside themed F&B
Square Enix is opening permanent cafes and shops in Los Angeles and Tokyo in Spring 2026. These locations will be full-service restaurants and retail spaces, a step up from the temporary pop-up shops the company has done in the past. This move aims to create lasting community spaces in two of Square Enix’s biggest markets.
The first North American location is opening in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo district at 316 E 1st St. It’s taking over the space formerly occupied by Mitsuru Sushi & Grill and will offer two experiences: a café with a changing menu based on popular Square Enix games, and a shop selling exclusive merchandise. Square Enix is working with J-Pop Culture Cafe Inc. to handle the café’s daily operations and manage the retail side of the business.
The new Shinjuku location is a three-story expansion within the PASELABO TOWER at 3-36-1 Shinjuku, and it’s operated by NEWTON CORPORATION. Like the Los Angeles store, it’s designed to combine popular restaurants with direct access to a retail space, allowing fans to experience the brand through dining and by purchasing official Square Enix merchandise. This larger space allows for more detailed themed decorations and a wider selection of products.
Square Enix cafes and shops are coming to both Los Angeles and Shinjuku in Spring 2026.
